She is bringing YOU food. Gross I know, but it is the ultimate act of love!! Think about it! I had a cat that would always leave 1/2 of a bird, mouse, etc on my porch. I asked the Vet how to stop it and he told me NOT TO TRY - he was giving me his absolute love. Never bothered me after that, just cleaned it up when he was NOT looking (we were told not to get rid of it when he was looking or it would be like refusing his love). I know it sounds a little weird, but that was the most loving and loyal cat I have ever owned.

They are showing off. Saying we are good hunters we will provide for you.

Let me tell you a true story. When I was young we had a cat that was an out/indoor cat. She brought home her kills and put them by the various doors. One day me and my mom were in the house and she was scratching by the door wanting to be let in. We went to the door to let her in. When my mom opened the door she noticed the cat had a snake in her mouth and it was alive. My mom being terrified of snakes screamed and slammed the door.

I don't know why but it just seems funny. Just be glad they haven't brought home any thing that's alive,

You are the beloved master and he is giving up his kill to you as a sign of affection and respect. Hardly any cat will do this, and for one to ...well it is a very special honor.
If you want to get rid of the mouse then ...When he gives it to you pet him and tell him hes a good boy and then when he isn't looking...throw it away. If you refuse the gift..he is likely to get upset and moody or just not understand. So even if you want him to stop, it is best to just let him honor you and throw it out when he isn't looking.
Again hardly any cat will do this...congrats on the special treatment!

It is to honor you, it is a present for you. I hate it, but you have to understand their thinking on it. One night my cat brought me a baby rabbit about every ten minutes. I had a whole shoe box full of baby rabbits by 10 pm! At that time I still lived with my parents. My cat would howl at the front door. If my mother answered, my cat would grab the baby rabbit and run into the yard. As soon as my mother would shut the door, my cat would return to the front door, with the baby rabbit, and resume her howling. If I answered the door, my cat would place the baby rabbit at my feet. She was my cat, and I was her person!
I have since had cats that have done this to varying degrees, but it is all the same message. I cannot yell at them for it. I cannot stop them. They do not understand if you yell at them. I have learned this. It is their way of bonding with you. Cats are one of the greates hunters. They are showing off for you, and offering you food.

He is providing for you in the only way he can!

Cats are communal creatures at heart- by bringing you a nice juicy mouse (well, that's what he thinks of it anyway) for dinner, he is really saying "you are my family and I want to provide for you."

Cats often bring their prized kills to the doorstep to show thier appreciation for you! Although gross to you, it's a sign of affection from them.

It is really quite a loving gesture (they think). What they are doing is bringing home the prize they won to you. It is really a gift from them. They want your admiration and praise for their good work. Simply sweet!

kitty has noticed that you do not seem able to hunt yourself and would like to share her prize with you since you are in her tribe. she is showing you how good a huntress she is.
