First thing you have to consider is why a Siamese, they are not what you would call a novices choice, and any rescue centre would make sure you are aware of the personality traits of these cats before they would consider you, in short they are all flat eared noisy demons from hell, they are intelligent, chatty, destructive, demanding, acrobatic, and would try the patience of a saint, an older one who has been put up for adoption WILL be difficult, or why would they be put up for adoption, so brace yourself, if after reading this you still want a Siamese, get two kittens, then you can at least get to know them as they grow, older ones will be set in their ways and they could be ways you dont like...

For example... they will run up the curtains, scratch the living poop out of your sofa, get on any ledge with an ornament on it, no matter how high or narrow, when they are hungry or bored, its your fault, and you have to do something about it NOW! they cry like babies, day or night, and they hate to be cold, on the upside you will never be short of entertainment, or cleaning jobs, they are very affectionate, and love a good chat, they like to help around the house, with stuff like wrapping presents/parcels, decorating, and dusting, I love them, but they are a huge trial sometimes!

Rescue groups often arrange transport between groups and to other cities to help their animals find homes. Contact the nearest Siamese rescue and let them know you want to adopt. They can put the word out to volunteers on their email list and possibly even have someone close enough to you that can do a home visit to meet you and check out the living environment. Keep in mind, shelters frequently get pure bred animals in, as well. You may want to call your local/nearest shelter and leave your name and number should a Siamese come in. http://va.siameserescue.org/ They are nation wide and offer the "Meezer express" also, sometimes breeders have adults up for adoption. Siamese are wonderful pets, but sometimes it's best to get a kitten Siamese bond to their owners for life and often don't adjust well to getting a new owner.

If you go to http://www.petfinder.com and enter your zip code and type of cat you are looking for with age range, it will pull up all available near you. This includes ones in shelters or rescues. Good luck!
