The pet store clerk says the bird is a female because she is solid white with redish brown eyes. He said she is albino, but I just read that there is no such thing as an albino cockateil. My bird is actually a Lutino Whiteface. So, is telling me it has to be a female also false?

Sorry to put this in pets, but not sure where else it goes.. Anyway i commonly have downy woodpeckers at my feeders but lately have notice a bird that looks just like a downy, but its dk. brown and black, not white and black. I would like to know, is this a juvenile downy? or is there another type of similar woodpecker? I have pictures if anyone needs. thanks :)

We have two cockatiels. An hour ago the older one fell of his favorite perch and went limp exept for convulsions throgh his abdomon...a steady pumping of his butt area up and down just like it had to pass something. While I held him, his tail was making a clicking sound as he moved it up and down.

He seltted down a little bit, and just died. We took him to the store thinking that it was unrelated to the other one...and they said he looked healthy, but that he might have had a condtion.

When we got home 15 minutes later, the other one was convulsing in the same way, clicking his tail and looking like needed to poop something out. He also died in my hand.

My question is, does anyone know what caused this?

We had been baking taquitos an hour before(and they did burn a tiny bit), and the oven was on for making brownies..but we've baked before...It was 80 degrees in the apartment, and we had just run the dishwasher. That I know of, nothing was special about the atmosphere? Any ideas?

I know someone who has 2 finches a male and a female. Just recently they layed 2 eggs and they hatched into baby birds. They are planning on keeping them in the same cage together even when they get older. I was wondering if this could cause an inbreeding problem? Or if the parents will eventully try to kick the babies out? Any other bird breeding info I could tell them would be helpful as they were not planning on the birds having babies and they don't know very much at all. Thanks!!

I just bought a cockateil. Any others who own cockateils that could give me some advice on care and fun with my new bird?
Websites would be appreciated. Also, is 150 bucks too much for a cockateil (it's hand fed).

I've had Bo for 2 years, and decided to get him a friend. He's doing pretty well with Zazu (the new bird), but sometimes I see Bo putting his claws on Zazu's chest/back/or tail. Is he playing, or is that indicative of a more serious problem?

I just purchased a Quaker on Friday, he was great for the first day, acted like he was happy, jumping around, singing. As of yesterday he has not talked, he seems to clean his feathers, as well as loosing some "down," and bites his feet. I have a ton of toys for him and have him half covered. Could this just be stress and how long should it last before I should be worried?

I sent them the following offer: they say they have some kind of wonder food for birds and they send a "free" 25 lb. bag with each bird shipped. So, I told them this 1. if they are in Alaska, why is their ad in the Los Angeles Classified ? Answer: They are know world wide. 2. Why should I pay to ship someone else's birds. No answer to this.
3. how about this?: you ship me the male and your wonder food with some nice labels with the name and good qualities of the food and I will pack it in ziplock baggies and go to all the vets here in corpus to introduce them to your wonder food. I will give you details on who I contacted, how they responded and how their clients responded. I will even allow the use of my phone number for more orders. They replyed--you take the male, we send you food, you sell food and we pay you.OK everybody now WHAT DO YOU THINK ?????
