My cockatiels laid a clutch of four eggs and now the babies are 7 seven weeks old. The parents still feed the babies (only the male) and I havn't taken out the nestbox. Two days ago, the female laid a perfect egg and now(after 51 hours), there is still one egg. Do you know why the female is delaying or laid only one egg?

I give them boiled rice, cuttlebone and mineral block so there is no calcium problem. Also, this is her second clutch in a year.

And... I look in the nestbox every 2 hours or so. Also, I feel the area infront of her vent and I felt an egg and the next day, she laid egg but when I checked it yesterday, I didn't feel an egg there. So, am I disturbing them from laying their eggs??

(worth $300 paid $50) parrot? My husband and i are separated, and since then I got my son a kitten. He offered to take the bird with him and I said no because my son loves the bird still and frankly, i take care of it better than he ever did (he never fed the thing, and didn't clean the cage regularly). Just now, I went to fill the bird's water and forgot to close the cage, bird flew out and the cat *almost* got him. (I don't think she got him!!). I had to chase them around the room, stopping her from getting him, trying to catch him.(he's just a little breed of parrot - fits in your hand) I don't plan on telling my husband about this little mishap(I'll be much more careful next time, but what do you think my husband would have done? What would you do?

Today I found a yellow cockatiel in our backyard. Dad said that it's still a baby. We already own 3 grey cockatiels but they are aggressive. They bite really hard and not hand..ummm... forgot wat the word is... hand-breeded? don't think so... well, they were not brought up by hand....(does that make sense?) and this baby cockatiel seems to be brought by hand. If I put this baby coaktisl with the 2 agressive ones, will the baby cockatiel become aggressive as it grows?

I am a college student in Ohio, and the university turned off the fountains in our school's ponds. In the past they have been left on so the pond did not freeze. We have a small contigent of ducks that have stayed here for as long as I have been here. So, we have 20 or so ducks, and frozen ponds with temperatures nearing zero. At least two ducks have passed away this week, both are now literally frozen solid by the pond near our dormitory. A group of students want to do something to help them but we can't think of anything that won't get us in trouble i.e. bringing them into the dormitory. Some students have begun to feed the ducks daily in hopes to keep them going. I honestly don't know what to do to help them, but if you saw the frozen dead ducks, you would want to do something too.

My daughter loves animals (her dream is to be a veterenarian) and along with having 3 cats, 2 hamsters and a bunch of fish, she now wants a bird. Don't get me wrong, she doesn't just have these animals as ornaments, she takes care of them, looks after them, and is very responsible for her age. I have experience with birds, having owned cocaktiels and an Indian ring-neck parrot in the past. We've narrowed it down to budgie, canary or cockatiel. I suggested finches, but she wants a bird she can hold on her finger and interact with. My choice is a budgie, but my wife wants to get her a cockatiel (though they are so noisy!), any thoughts??
