I'm fairly sure bald eagles aren't common in the southern US, but I'm also unaware of any wild birds posesing dark bodies with a white head.

I saw what I think was an eagle in a feild the other day, apparently muching out on some dead something. Do you think that's likely? Even possible? Deffinantly wasn't a buzzard or vulture, and the think was freaking huge.

I've seen many swans, perhaps as many swans in the first half of my life as ducks in the later, but I know almost nothing about them. I'm not looking into aquireing one *not only do i have no idea how i would keep it, but it would eat my dog* but I do wonder, are they pettable?

Obviously the wild ones aren't. We all know from AFV reruns *or first runs, for the older peeps out there* that they're territorial. Serious, have you watched an entire episode where there wasn't an attacking swan? Search results bear little fruit tonight, and if I don't get some nugget of knowledge to chew on I'll never get around to planting the catnip in the yard *everyone needs a hobby, and i pick the one that may attract the local large cats. yay me*

Can anyone give me info on swans, possibly on their care and "pet-ability" and all that good stuff? Just curious, and a useful site would be, well, usefull. Thanks much for your time.

I might be wrong but I am under the distinct impression that since the start of this year there have been far more wild native birds flying around the Inner West of The Sydney Metropolitain Area. I imagine that the draught and the recent bush fires are driving them towards the coastal plains. Does anyone have any observations or information They can share with Me. I have seem Cockatoos on the No 2 Oval at Sydney University, Parrots in the trees at Enmore Park. Rosellas along the Cooks River and clountless Mapgies and Currawongs around the Tempe area. There are even big "FAAARK" Crows down naer Wolli Creek. Any ideas as to why they are all flocking to Sydney?

Hi, i have a african grey, recently it's chord is burnt. The food that it ate flow out from it's chord. I took it to the vet, and it was given stitches..... i feel guilty as it should be the food i feed it that is too hot. Thus currently it is recovering from it's injury and it can't be feed as much as before. i have heard that during the recovery process, due to itchyness, it might bite and tear off the stitches. Anyone out there have revalent experience to advise me??? thanks

i have adopted most of my pets and i dont see why they were given up. my lovebird is a sweet heart and the only quiet bird i have, my parakeets are noisy but not too noisy and my conure is agressive but not enough to give him up. i know the people that gave them away owned their own home and had no allergies, because they kept their other pets, so what would make you give up your pet?

I had posted a question about my cockatiel's health prior to this one. Unfortunately, my feathered friend died yesterday. I have two other cockatiels and a parakeet. The parakeet and one of the cockatiels are always together. The other cockatiel was usually around the one that passed (by the way, none of these are mates). We are afraid that this birdie will get depressed or ill because of the loss of his companion. What can I do to prevent this from happening?

hi everyone! I just bought a parakeet a week and a half ago and I thought that budgies become comfortable with their new owner(s) after 4-5 days..(my parakeet was not hand-fed). does anyone know how I could make my pet come sit on my finger the fastest way and not run away from my finger??

Thanks!!

Two of our zebra finches have given birth to a a baby bird. But we've been finding our shaft-tail finches going into the zebra finches' nest and sitting on the baby bird. Should we be concerned? Is the shaft-tail trying to harm the baby zebra finch? What should we do? Thanks in advance!

Ok, I have been trying to Breed my budgies for quite some time, and I just recently caged the two I am trying to breed together with a nest box. They have been spending a lot of time in the nest box together and yesterday my female laid her first egg.
In all I have 5 birds. Alexander Flury(Alex for short) a Lutino 'Teil. Lilly my nesting female green budgie. Baby, Lilly's Mate. Kitten My lone female Budgie. And Sweety, My Ash variety Ring Necked Dove. They are free flight except for the dove as she is older. And the Nesting pair I have kept caged to Prevent an egg cracking inside Lilly and getting infected.
I have hand raised birds before(Rehabilatating wild American Robin chicks) And I have a *VERY* good Avain vet. I have been bird keeping for many years and this is the first time my birds have bred. Anybody have any advise for me?

Four of our adult ducks - other than the two we know the weasel has killed - have either relocated to another area because of the weasel or have been killed we don't know. We have put out a trap but nothing.

Our pond is frozen over and the ducks really have no where to go. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to trap or kill a weasel? Or something you can put around its home to drive it away???

I thought having the fox was bad...........this weasel is worse. The fox won't go in the water but the weasel will. Help!!!!

They are mainly thrushes and I have never seen anything like it. Since November they keep entering my house by windows or open doors. I have counted something like a dozen birds finding (or losing) their way in this manner. A friend of mine who lives some 20 miles from home says it has recently happened to him also a couple ot times. Would cell phones have anything to do with it?
