I answered your question yesterday about your other tiel. I'm sorry to hear that it passed away. Depression is the least of your worries right now. As you have no idea what your entire flock has been exposed to. You should have put your bird in the fridge and had a necropsy done. It does not matter that the keet and other tiel did not hang out with the tiel that passed. He/she could have had an illness that is airborn. Also, it is very possible that one of the birds that is still living is the primary carrier of the illness. As a bird may not be affected by an illness but can be the carrier. As for your tiel being depressed spend time with it. I wouldn't advise getting another bird to ease his/her depression until you find out what the other died from.

No doubt he will grieve, but he shouldn't get sick. Give him some extra attention. Keep him near the others for company. Put him where he can see out of a window. Get him some new toys. Leave the radio playing softly. (I think classical music is their favorite, but anything will do.
When my cockatiel's mate died, she wouldn't stop laying eggs. I tried all kinds of things to make her stop, but she kept going. Finally I got her a parakeet. (I didn't want to get another tiel because she was getting on in years, and the new one would be left alone.) This worked perfectly; it was a nice hand-fed parakeet, and they were great friends.
Even the parakeet outlived her finally. I still have him.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost one of your cockatiels. Is this other cockatiel in the same cage with the parakeet and cockatiel? If not, ad a mirror to his cage, along with a few new toys. Even if he is with the others, you could put a mirror in the part of the cage that he most inhabits.

get another cockateil from a family owned really good bird store or one of those bird markets where the "owners" know a lot about the birds. ask the guy at the counter about the different personalities of the diff. birds and whichever one sounds the most like the one that just passed, get it. so sorry for the loss:(

sorry to hear for your loss. Adding some new toys in his cage is one thing you can do. However to make sure you spent some extra "time out of the cage" with your teil..campionship for him is important..make sure his in a room where there is a lot of :hussle bussle" where activity is good. Hope this helps. And remember provide him with some TLC always. :-)

The best thing you could do at this moment is lavish positive attention on your bird. Take the bird out of the cage more often, hand-feed it, play with it, talk to it, and don't leave it in the cage for prolonged periods of time. It needs a welcome distraction at least several times every day.

For Cocktails that are frighten: Cocktails are very sensitive types of birds. Once you really frighten them, they just never go back to the way they were before. Giving you advise from someone who had cocktails before, you should occasionally (when you have time) let them out of their cages, hold them in your hands and pet them. Birds (espesially cocktail) love being petted on their head. They may struggle at first, but once they get the hang of it, they will relax more and let you pet them.
Cocktails who are not frighten: This is what I do, every weekend, I just let my birds fly out for a while and before they can poop, I catch them back into their cages (if you cann't catch them, you might want to read the first choice.

buy him/her lots of toys and maybe some mirrors. but if the cockatiel and the budgie are friends then you might not have a problem with it.
