About 2 weeks ago I got a lovely pet budgie (parakeet). Now my room mate is convinced that she's allergic. (She got some breakouts in her face.) I have offered to only keep him only in my room, vaccum every other day and even buy an air purifier but she's stubborn and demands that he leaves. The only compromise she was willing to make was to have an allergy check but untill then he has to stay with my mother. I really miss him. :( Any advice for me?

I just looked in the nest and my 2 hatchlings are now wide eyed and growing so much! One of them was born with some downy gray feathers and the other was bald..until this morning! The one that was bald is completely white...will she/he stay white or mostly white at this point? The mother is 70% white with some gray patches and the father is the regular average gray.

How can you tell a male parakeet from a female? Do you sex them the same way you do baby chickens?

I'd really like manzanita. It has to be a floor stand, not table top or cage top. The only ones I've found were almost $200 and that's not even including s&h.

My mom owns a cockatiel and it doesn't really talk. Does anyone know when or how long before they will say their first word or words? She really doesn't anything about these kinds of words. All he does is make some noise, but he doesn't talk - I appreciate anykind of help anyone has.

There's a hawk that goes flying around the green hills outside my office window. I work on Sunset, right near Doheny. It makes me really happy to see him up there. Sometimes he plays with crows, and two days ago there were 2 other hawks with him!

In any case, I was wondering if any of you have seen him as well, or know where he comes from. I suspect he is someone's pet.

Here are some links to pictures of him/her:

Let me know if you know anything about them!

I had a chick hatch last night. This morning she is up walking around but i noticed her toe on the outside of the food is curled under the whole foot and the remaining 2 toes. Which causes her not to walk as good as she could. Is there something i could do for this?

My teil is about 6 months. She began to not be as energetic about four days ago, she then became puffier, and is obviously sick. She is drinking and eating although not as much. Here feces are very watery. The solid portion is dark green, there is a small white portion and the urine is yellowish, usually the latter has no color and there is not nearly as much of it. I'm giving her her favorite foods so that she eats and began giving her Ornacyn-Plus 24 hours ago. She hasn't gotten worse, but the only obvious improvement is her appetite. Her movements around the cage are still minimal, she is not at the bottom of the cage.
I need advice and hope. I lost my first bird despite taking her to the vet. Thank you very much for any assistance.

I have had my male and female cockatiel together for a couple months. He will sing and dance to her- and she responds correctly in mating position. He keeps singing, facing her, but does not go any further. They do have little fights most of the time, but get along well and he follows her everywhere.
He is 2 yrs and has not bred before.

The closest thing I can come up with is that she just wants the sex, and he wants a relationship, lol. Previous experience- my female will mate with everything and everyone she comes into contact with. I honestly do not know if he knows how to.
Any experience with this or suggestions??

I recently got a budgie bird from my my friends sister-in-law, when I picked up the bird she gave me some rules or guidelines wahtever.....she says that budgie birds need 12 hours of sleep a night, so I have to put a cover over the cage from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m., then she told me to watch them when he eats so he dosen't choke,.....and the gravel stuff he needs everyday because they eat it, to help them digest their food........now is any of this true???? She's even called my friend to see if I put the cover on the bird on time and off in time....
