Is it close-ringed (ring round its leg)? If so, the last two digits of the ring should be the hatch year.

The only other way to tell is if it's a young bird- if it's less than a year old, the iris of the eye is grey and the pupil looks larger. Older greys eyes go a yellowish-grey in colour as depicted in the linked picture I have posted for you.

All you can tell with pretty much every pet and most wild birds is before or after the first (or sometime second molt). I have a cockatiel that I know is somewhere 2 or over.
Two exceptions I know: some raptors have molt patterns per year which are good up until 3 yrs. Eagles talons get wrinklier as they get older.
Otherwise, unless it has a traceable band or that you can track down the owners, there is no way of ever knowing. Sorry.

Isn't it amazing how many idiots responded with the same moronic joke? People, it was idiotic the first time - you don't need to repeat it 10 times....

Once it's mature (yellow eyes, full coloring), there's no way to tell, just like any other animal (including humans), although if it's it a really old bird (like over 50) the beak will be cracked someone, like wrinkles, and it won't really move much.

I was led to belive it was something to do with the colour of its eyes and the colour of its feathers. I don't think you can age them accurately. Look on google and check with an avarain vet.
