Weasels are among the smartest and sneakest of all varmints. If you set a trap, remember, they crave rats and mice and even are drawn the the dead carcasses of other weasels. But the trap is the thing. A weasel can squeeze thru a hole the size of a dime. So make sure once in the trap there are no holes for it to slip thru.
Also, do you have a friend or family member with a vicious dog; if you do, and can set the dog on the weasels chances are they won't return;
sadly not enough wild spaces any longer where they need to live; so they get their food from our farms ...
good luck

I have to wonder if it is a mink no a weasel but i don't know where you live . A mink or a weasel is much harder on birds than a fox . A fox is Leary about going to close to humans usually .How ever once they get away with it .They do get pretty bold .But they will just steal one to eat . A weasel or a mink .Which a mink is dark brown and smaller will devastate birds or chickens .If they get inside a building with them they will kill every one just for fun ,not to eat .They always kill the birds by biting their neck .Which makes their handiwork easy to recognize . To try and trap the mink you can use fish for bait make a 4 inch hole in the pond bank at water level and put the fish in the hole with the trap in front of it, or you can put a bird in a cage with a trap outside of it where the mink has to cross it to get to the bird .cover the traps trigger pan with a piece of wax paper just smaller than the trap jaws .Then cover the paper with very dry sand and some short grass or leave . The sand has to be dry or moister in it will freeze and not let it go off when its stepped on . A fox is much to smart to get caught in this as it will smell your scent on it unless u use rubber gloves . Its a good idea to wear rubber gloves trapping any animals .

having trapped mink and ermine before , I will give you a bit of advice. they can get meat in nature, but the best bait to catch them with is sweets. they have a sweet tooth that is really out of control.
get a have a hart trap, set it with something like frozen berries or maple syrup, and then cover it with dead grasses to conceal it and make it look less like what it is. make sure you handle the trap and the bait with rubber gloves so you don't put your scent on it, and if you have them, wear rubber boots so that you don't leave it all over the area.
setting more than one trap is a good idea, and use a different bait in each so that if one misses you won't have as much chance of this creature getting trap wise and becoming very hard to catch.
if you want to drive it away, get a bottle of coyote urine from your local feed store, and spray it outside around your home. it will help with foxes as well.
when all else fails, sit out with a rifle and wait for the weasel to come around, then shoot it. it is sad when this is the only way to
solve a wildlife problem, but it does sometimes happen. try every other suggestion first.
hope this helps, and good luck.

are these pet ducks or wild ducks? If they are pet ducks then you need to keep them caged up where they will be safe from the weasel...at least until the water is unfrozen. If you are providing a free meal, the wildlife will keep coming. Keep your ducks in a safe place and you will not have a problem. Some weasels are endangered, and you not knowing what type of weasel it is....you may be breaking the law by killing it.

hav a heart traps are the way to go.. go to the local hardware store (home depot,ace hardware,etc)then get some fresh meat(your ducks will stay away from it and the weasel wont be able to resist it....try something on sale, steak, roast,etc..... make sure you have a small trap as he will escape.. then when you catch him either call animal control and they will put it down or release it very very far away from your home...or you could call an exterminator they will take care of it for you.. it might not be as humane but they will get rid of it for ya...hope this helps... good luck..smile
also how tame are your ducks??how many ducks?? do they have a coop of some sorts to get into at night?? mabey put them in an safe area at night when the hunting is good...??? like a very large plastic carrier?? in your garage?? hmmmm... hope some of this helps ya out...

At a farm/feed supply store they have deterrents for all types of animals. I think the weasel might be deterred by the scent of coyotes or mountain lion.
You spot treat the area and make it appear to be 'marked' by a predator. This stuff comes in liquid form and STINKS!!! oh lord it stinks! (I had a rat problem) This stuff will work on the more intelligent suckers... (I hate rats!!)
If all else fails.... get a chicken from the grocery store and add poison to it. (I don't advocate this normally, but I feed ducks and geese everyday and will do whatever to protect them!) That surely will do the trick.
