(worth $300 paid $50) parrot? My husband and i are separated, and since then I got my son a kitten. He offered to take the bird with him and I said no because my son loves the bird still and frankly, i take care of it better than he ever did (he never fed the thing, and didn't clean the cage regularly). Just now, I went to fill the bird's water and forgot to close the cage, bird flew out and the cat *almost* got him. (I don't think she got him!!). I had to chase them around the room, stopping her from getting him, trying to catch him.(he's just a little breed of parrot - fits in your hand) I don't plan on telling my husband about this little mishap(I'll be much more careful next time, but what do you think my husband would have done? What would you do?

Also, do you have any tips on how to make her leave him alone. Even when he's in his cage, she tries to jump up and get him and he tries to attack her through the bars! I've tried spraying her every time she jumps up there but she still does it again. she's not learning!

I suspect he would tell us that you don't take good care of the bird either.

i personally think, that all the trouble you went through to keep the bird, that somewhere along the line you might of relized a cat will try to get at the bird, trained or not... all cats are hunters that what they do, depending on the age of your son a more better 2nd pet for your son could be a dog, fish, guinnee pig, as for the cost of the parrot the price does not dictate how any animal or pet of any kind is treated, as for telling your husband hell no,cuz well i think if he found out he could show just cause if he wanted to fight to get the parrot back (ie: putting a pet in a dangerous situation and or stress) as for your last question "what would you do" well i would not get a cat thats for sure, but as you stated you made a mistake and that happens, good luck with your situation

Whatever you do, the cat will chase the bird, it's his instinct. Don't bother trying to teach the cat to leave the bird alone, he just won't get it. be VERY careful, because you live in a Sylvester-Tweety situation. Your son must be careful too. I personnally wouldn't keep a cat and a bird in the same house, or at least I wouldn't let the cat in the parrot room.

Get one of those plant hooks that you can mount on your ceiling, and hang your birdcage from it. It will keep the bird safe from your cat, unless you cat learns how to fly.

You shouldnt even bother. Plus, wouldnt you want your ex mad at you, therefore he will stay away? Just another reason why people even get devorced
