My bird is in my same rented small room. He has his own small condo, but at times there is more "down" than others. Anyone?

sorry I wasn't more specific. I meant that little feathery down. He does bathe almost everyday. Sometimes it is worse than others.

Have the wings trimmed by an expert. Please do not try to do it if you have never done it before with out professional help.
I do it for free for all my customers at my pet store.

If by down you mean the feather dust that all birds produce then there is not a way to reduce it without some form of air filtration. This is a natural product from the feathers that prevents parasites fron sticking to the birds feahers.

If he is pulling feathers and leaving the under feathers or down showing he may need more attention and is showing this by puling or chewing his feathers.

Care sheets are free on my web site.

I think many people are misunderstanding the question or maybe I am. Most of the answers are for keeping the bird down, by wing clipping. I think your problem is having to much feather down floating around in the air being a mess. Basically you need to make sure your bird has access to proper cleaning areas. You may need to provide a bath for your bird to bathe in, or even a dirt bath. You will need to check on what your species uses in the wild. Other than that, all birds lose down and dander, some breeds much more than others, it could be just a normal amount for the species you have.

Unless your bird will take a shower, or will allow you to spray it in the kitchen sink...take a plastic bottle and fill it with water. The best bottles produce a mist rather than a stream. Then add George's Aloe to the water. If you search for it online, you can find the proper proportions. Some people believe that aloe can help with skin and feather issues.

try misting the bird with a little water from a squirt bottle, dont soak him though this prevents something called moulting ( not sure of spelling ) and makes the bird retain a healthy coat of fearthers, remember in the wild birds take baths to keep them moist

My bird used to do the same thing and it always scared me that he would run into the fan so I took him to the vet every month or so and got his wings trimmed it doesn't hurt them its just like getting our nails trimmed and its not very expensive its only like 10$

Good Luck!
