I've had Bo for 2 years, and decided to get him a friend. He's doing pretty well with Zazu (the new bird), but sometimes I see Bo putting his claws on Zazu's chest/back/or tail. Is he playing, or is that indicative of a more serious problem?

From the color of their ceres I know Bo is a boy, and even though Zazu is young, I think he's a boy as well.

I have 5 parakeets the way you know if their getting along is
if they sit together in the cage most of the time two birds of the
same sex don't get along. But in you Cass you separate them asap because i use to have 6 birds and they were doing that to one of the birds kid the other one.

parakeets need pals. I have 8 now down from 15 (Istarted with 2)
these birds will be loud and peck at each other if they don't get along. there will be no peace.
t's about breeding time, at 2yrs. if one of them wants to breed, and not the other, one can be killed. are they both male? if not, get a nesting box. if so, they may need to be seperated in the cage.

First is the nose on the bird blue grey or pinkish. If they are blue then you have boys but if they are pinkish you have girls. Either way they will fight. If you have one of each they I would get a breeders box, But not in a round cage they won't breed in a round cage. Look on the net on breeding if you are lucky to have one of each...

One is trying to "mount" the other to breed. It's only bad if the reciever doesn't like it, and fights. If the reciever is okay with it, then I'd say you have two very happy birds!
