the red combs on the tops of my chickens heads have frozen from the negative temps...they have started to lose color and are very hard

The damage is irreversible. Just leave them and they will fall off eventually. Don't feel bad, poultry don't have many nerves in their combs and waddles.

Poor things

With a warm (not hot) washcloth, press the combs of the chickens till they thaw. Then move them somewhere warmer or heat there coup

There is nothing you can do except leave like it is or cut them off in the spring

i would take them into a building and put a heater or a heat lamp in it.

Just snap them off........like asperagus.they will just break at the frozen edge.
