The pet store clerk says the bird is a female because she is solid white with redish brown eyes. He said she is albino, but I just read that there is no such thing as an albino cockateil. My bird is actually a Lutino Whiteface. So, is telling me it has to be a female also false?

My cockateil was also all white with the reddish brown eyes. I actually had a male and female, the female had orange cheeks tho. I would say it could be either.

The Lutinos and Albinos come in true Albino pattern showing pink eyes or in normal white which have dark eyes, The white and yellow varieties are "sex linked" meaning if you were to breed a male Lutino(yellow) to a normal Grey female all Lutino offspring would be female and the males from the mating would be purely Greys without ability to throw Lutinos. Same genetic story for the Albinos. But both varieties when bred to the same color will produce both sexes in that particular color of both parents. So I don't know why the Pet Store said that it's a female based on eye color? You have a "normal white" because it is not lacking eye pigment.(The eyes are not red like a white bunny) That is the "albino color phase)

It relies upon on the shade. A male accepted gray may have a lot brighter colors. a lady accepted gray may have barring on the tail and a diminished out face coloring. the different varities like lutino, pied, and pearl favor a dna sexing to inform their gender. you're waiting to inform with assistance from personality. adult males tend to be extra vocal and independant. women all and multiple seems frequently a lot extra quiet and sweet. some birds can study the thanks to communicate and some won't be able to. you could try with assistance from merely whistling an identical track to it. in case you want it to really talk merely say the be conscious in repition. yet make it exciting for the chicken.

False its a genetic mutation, not a sex thing. Its a double recessive gene.
