I am baking something, and it says to grease the pan. Does that mean use Pam, or something else?

Okay I love to bake and I'm good at making cakes but I just don't know how to make the icing that goes at the top and I just bought this book called "Beautiful Cakes" by Peggy Porschen and I though it was gonna say how to make the icing they use for those really preatty cakes but it doesn't so does anybody know how to make it. I would really appreciate your help thanks.

Clean and boil about two pounds of new potatoes. Remove from heat when they are about half done. In a large cast iron skillet melt a stick of real butter until it's turning brown. add potatoes that have been well drained. Add about a tablespoon of kosher salt and about a half teaspoon of freshly ground pepper. continue to cook over medium heat until potatoes are nicely browned and cooked well. In the last couple min. you can add a couple teaspoons of diced garlic or enjoy as is.

Title says it all.

I'm not "clueless" when it comes to cooking, but I basically just have never had to cook, as I've always lived at home and/or was at college (cafeterias).

It's not so much I'm clueless, but I need a "starter" cookbook I guess. I need new ideas too. Keep in mind I will only be making this for one person, myself. I don't want a ton of leftovers everynight because they will go to waste, but at the same time I want to have my vegetables, potatoes, etc.

Thanks.

Will they last a while in the cupboard, as long as it's not warm in there? I like to buy bunches when they're on sale, but I don't want them to get that whitish look to them, you know, how chocolate looks after its been sitting around for a long time.

I got to Quiznos every day for a Roasted Chicken Salad.Last year I had it every other day with Ranch dressing and sometime even extra ranch. But recently I started eating it with Red Wine Vinaigrette that they have their at Quiznos. It's really good and like it because it tastes lighter than Ranch.Ranch almost seems like Mayo to me now.
So I was wondering - is Red Wine Vinaigrette better or worse to pour on a salad? I started jogging every night for 20 minutes so I want to change the way I eat as well.

Hey Ya'll, I've aquired a cookbook that was published in Quebec,Canada in a box of junk books. There's a trifle recipe I'd love to try for the upcoming holidays that calls for pineapple
jelly powder. Is jelly powder the same as jello gelatin??? The recipe also calls for one envelope of unflavored gelatin to be dissolved in pineapple juice. Iam sure that's the same as the little Knox envelopes I've used for years??? Thanks for any reply in this matter.
