I ordered a ribeye at a restaurant Saturday night. I asked it be cooked medium, but it came back rare. I decided to have it wrapped and cook it more completely at home. Is there a safe way to do this without it becoming tough? I plan to have it tonight either cut up in a salad or in homemade enchaladas.

I'm on summer vacation and obviously that introduces the idea of snacking (groan). I've been sticking to a 1500 calorie day pretty well, and I'd like to keep it going over the summer. Does anyone have some great lunch and dinner recipes that are under about 500 calories each?

I'm also a teacher and that means no pay over the summer...so low-budget ideas would be appreciated!

This local vendor sells an excellent german chocolate cake, but she uses the icing ingredients (coconut, pecans, etc..) as part of the cake, i just can't find a recipe like it online. I doubt she'll give away her secret recipe.

I'd love to make her cake, something a little more than an iced sponge cake would be good, but I have no idea where to start!!

Although I am reasonably proficient in the kitchen, I am by no means an experienced cake decorator. Does anyone have any good ideas (with instructions please!) for a simple but effective cake? I was wondering about perhaps the hedgehog cake that was so impressive when we were younger... or a duck, or a ladybird would go down well with my daughter. Or a flower, seeing as her name is Daisy!

Pennies are limited at the moment, so buying fancy cake tins is out.

Many thanks for your ideas!

I don't know how to get the ice cream out of the carton and still try to make it look nice (whenever i try to let the ice cream sit out for a while to let it get a little softer it always melts too much) like they do at the ice cream stores w/ an ice cream scooper.

Ok my younger brother is turning 17 tomorrow. For my 19th birthday he made me a Buffalo Sabres cake from scratch so I decided I would do the exact same thing for him but with the New York Yankees. However, instead of a normal cake like I wanted he wants an Ice Cream Cake. Can anybody give me some tips on how to do it?? He just wants it to be vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, and the chocolate cookies in the center. Every recipe I've found needs actual cake mix, and he refuses to accept that. To do it the way he wants would I just soften the ice cream and layer it with the cookies in the center, and then frost with whipped topping and decorate or is it more difficult then that? Throw out any ideas you have, I'm open to anything. Thanks.

In all of the carob chip cook recipes I found, you must use honey, whole wheat flour ect. So I was wondering if I could just substitude carob chips into a chocolate chip cookie recipe.

I have heard that microwaving your food changes it and robs nutrients, I have also heard that it saves nutrients that get lost with conventional cooking- which is true?
