I have a receipe that calls for paprika and cayenne pepper, but I don't have any. Is there anything I can use as a substitute? Also, it calls for onion powder, but I only have minced onions. Is that ok?

Hi all,

We will be travelling to canada next week , it will take almost 11- 13 hours to reach the destination . My question is we are planning to bring some home cooked food with us , will it get spoiled , im planning to bring some coconut rice and some other curries , is that ok if i put it in a plastic food container or do i need to buy any special food box . I will be cooking it a day earlier and refrigerate it and then heat it on the travel day in microvawe , is that ok ?

Pls advice .

My son wants us to grill for his graduation party later this month. I know sirloin would make great kebabs, but it's pretty pricey. Any ideas out there on what affordable cuts of beef would taste good and still be tender after marinating? We're preparing for lots of people here withouth lots of money, so I want to start getting sale meats, if possible. Also, while I'm at it, any suggestions for sources of less expensive shrimp & chicken? Thanks!

If I took brussel sprouts and cooked them until they were soft, and made them into a paste. If I added olive oil, garlic, onions and what? Could I take my liver cut it thin and broil it and use it as a sauce? What could I add to the brussel sprout paste to give it an exotic flavor?

I've recently gained 2 step-children (15-month old girl and 4 year old boy) and I've never been much of a "cook." I want to be helpful to my husband and fix dinner every night for him and the kids but I don't have the first clue what to fix. I can do spagetti! I'm clueless about cooking meats. On top of the fact that i haven't cooked much, the kids are pretty picky (as am i!). Please help me with ideas for meals to fix for my new family!

Last night, we ordered two orders from our local italian restaurant - chicken stuffed with spinach and proscuitto rolled and covered in an alfredo sauce. A serving of garlic and butter seasoned pasta (spaghetti) accompanied each order.

We ended up not eating it, and would like to do so tonight - how would you suggest rewarming it?

We don't want to use a microwave - would prefer an oven and/or stove.

FYI, the chicken is a chicken breast cut into thirds - as there are two orders, there are two breasts each cut into thirds.

The container that it came in is a styrofoam container, so we'd need to transfer it to something else for the rewarming.

What temperature, how long, what kind of container(s), other suggestions?

Your help is appreciated - we're all ears!
