Toss it in the crockpot with about 4 cups of water, the seasoning pack, and a beer. Then toss in a few bay leaves, quartered potatoes, and the tops of celery, a quartered red onion, and a big spoonful of minced garlic. Cover and cook on high for 7+ hours. It's so good and falls right apart. The leftovers are great to make hash and fried potatoes!

Sounds great.

OVEN BAKED CORN BEEF DINNER

1 (5 lb.) corned beef
6-8 med. new potatoes, peeled
12-16 sm. carrots, peeled
1 lb. cabbage, cut in sm. wedges
Parsley sprigs, garnish
Horseradish, mustard and mayonnaise (blended together)
Shallots
Bay leaf

1. Place corned beef in large flat baking pan or covered roaster. Add water to depth of 1/4 inch.
2. Cover with lid or foil and place in a preheated 300 degree oven for 3 1/2 - 4 hours.

3. When corned beef is done, pour liquid into deep kettle. Add about 3 cups water. Bring to a boil. Keep corned beef warm in oven while preparing vegetables.

4. Add potatoes and boil with shallots, bay leaf and carrots for 1/2 hour.

5. About 10 minutes before serving, add cabbage wedges and cook until tender.

6. Slice corned beef across the grain and serve on platter surrounded by cabbage wedges. Serve with horseradish sauce.

7. In a separate bowl, serve potatoes and carrots garnished with parsley sprigs.

Serves 6-8.

I made corned beef for work on St. Patrick's day and everyone loved it.

I used the one in the meat section of the grocery store that comes with the little pack. I simply rubbed the spices all over it, sprayed a piece of foil and wrapped it tight.

I cooked it at 300 degrees for about 3 hours. For the potatoes, carrots and cabbage, I put them in a very large casserole dish, added salt and pepper. On top of the cabbage, i laid 3 strips of bacon. Covered it all with foil and cooked for about 1 1/2 hours.

Every thing came out very tender and the baked cabbage was much better than boiled.

I like a baked corned beef. It has a denser texture. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
Spray a baking pan with non stick spray or line with easy release aluminum foil.
Lay the corned beef in the pan, fat side up. Cover with spices, if they are in a separate packet. Bake
15 to 20 minutes per pound, then check internal temperature.

If the beef is already "corned", cook it in a crock pot. There are only a few things that I would recommend using one of these things for and corned beef is one of them. If you are serving sauerkraut or cabbage with it, add that to the pot about half way through the day. Set it and forget it!

If you are talking about the frozen prepared corned beef at the supermarket, I usually use a crockpot/slowcooker and put qwith it potatoes, carrots, onions (like in a stew and cook till fork tender). But for the canned cornbeef, I like to fry it with onions until soft and then eat it as in a sandwich. Yum!

I also like it boiled at a very slow simmer (3 hours or so). About 1 hour before it's done, I throw in some new potatoes, and 1/2 hour before its done, I throw in some quartered cabbage.

You need a big pot.

also, My thoughts are when i make this dinner that i make 2 corned briskets. Use 1 for sandwiches later

i add extra pickling spice, there is never enough in those little packages. Slow cooker works good if you start early. Cabbage carrots onions and little red potatoes work well when cooked with the meat (add later in the cooking) btw if you like Brussel sprouts they are yummy added
