I don't like celebrating "couple events" because I always feel claustrophobic. It has nothing to do with my wife, who I love very much. I've always felt this way about Valentines, New Years, and other events that are very couple-centric.

Since when is marriage just a piece of paper and a ring? It seems to have "lost it's value" in today's society. Are we that morally bankrupt?

My wife asked me if the blue dress made her look fat.

Knowing that my wife loves me because I have been honest with her for so long - I told her that she looked like the Goodyear blimp.

I hope that she gets this out of her system before we go out tonight..............

We have been together for 8yrs and married for 1 year. No infidelity, physical abuse, or drug use. Just BAD communication between us. She said that she is just "fed up" and wants a divorce. My wife and I have been separated for 3 months and about a couple of weeks ago we started going to marriage counseling. In the first session, she told me and the therapist that she's only here to help me and that she still wants a divorce. That she doesn't want to take the RISK of returning back to me. Now that we are on our 4th session, it seems like MC has been useful. She seems to be more into the therapy sessions and has not bought up the divorce. For all the ladies that have left their husband, once you have decided to leave your husband, do you ever change your mind and come back. I dont know what is her intentions. I dont want any regrets if I decide that I had enough with the waiting for her to make her up mind and proceed with filing the divorce myself. 8 yrs is a long time to throw away

ok I've been married almost 5 years and my husband works and I am the housewife with a four year old at home. I'm overweight and trying to fix it because my husband has voiced to me that he thinks the excess weight is "unattractive". Anyway I have chores I do dishes, laundry etc. My husband has always told me that my opinion matters to him but lately if I disagree with him and don't agree to his opinion and I get upset and raise my voice (because I have my opinion and I'm not just going to have his all the time) he blocks out my cable TV totally and either blocks my internet totally or just my favorite webpages. If I want to watch something it's "trash" if he wants to it's ok. (not porn-we are Christian) He uses the "submission" and "obedient" verses as to what I'm suppost to be and since he hasn't "hit" me he can treat me like this. My family is just up in arms, what do I do? He can make my life hell if I don't "submit". Suggestions...?

My wife and I have lived apart for over 1 1/2 years, (divorce pending) but we remain friends and even get together about twice per month for a few drinks. Total platonic relationship.

I have started dating someone who believes I should not be seeing her anymore, and it is a source of conflict.

My new friend admits she is jealous, but that does not change the facts.

I say, my (ex) wife is just a friend, and has nothing to do with what we have together. ( which is pretty darn good)

What say you???????

My Husband's work sent us Over Seas on a 2 yr. assignment that ended 6 months in when I found out he was having a sordid affair with a Prostitute. I Trusted him with All my Heart & defended his honor. He was my Hero.
I didn't question his large cash withdrawals & his Many, Many late nights . He has always been a Good provider & I thought a "Work Aholic". I believed his LATE Nights were due to "Meetings, Re: "The Project" we were on & that he was really Meeting "with the guys across the Island for a night cap". This was a HUGE assignment that he was heading up and & I had met & had dinner with the "S'pore Team" & I was actually "Proud of his Accomplisments" & his Good Standing in the Co.
I discovered his Betrayal on July 20, 2007 when he forgot his Mobile Phone at home, to find out this was his "life line" to his prostitute.
He spent $24,000. on her! I have been DEVASTATED! No words BIG enough to explain! I am IN Counseling .
Anyone been thru this? Did U forgive?

What would you do? Me and my husband have been married for almost 5 years, but have been together for eight years. When we first starting dating he told me had Leukemia, I have now found out that was a lie. A couple of months ago I went to his ex-employer to pick up his check, and was talking to the lady in the office and she asked me how he was doing since he has melanoma, which he does not have. I have noticed that he lies all the time. He lost his job, because he stayed out all the time. He has not worked in 3 months and we do not have the money to pay our bills. He had an interview last week and is probably going to get the job; the problem is that it is only part-time. It would hurt us more for him to take the job, because we have to start back paying daycare full time and the job is in another city, and gas would cost a lot more. We have two children and I feel like that the only reason he is there is because he has no where else to go and I am supporting him. I love him but I am tired of being stressed out over bills and his attitude with me and the children. What should I do? Should I tell him to leave? It would devastate my children if he left. He has two children from a previous marriage that he hardly ever sees, and they live in the same town.

Everything irritates him....we have 2 cars but we use mine on the weekends. He gets mad when i ask him to drive cause he thinks i'm making him my chauffer. So i drive all the time but he does not like the way i drive cause..he says i drive 2 slow..(60-70 ..my speed) , he says i am always following cars, and i am always on the dangerous lanes. He told me that police are looking 4 drivers like me. In my own words i'm comfortable with my speed limit cause i have control of the car incase of any accidents. He yells at me and i get so confused sometimes.
So yesterday 2 try 2 avoid any yelling...i tried 2 drive like he always want me 2. But he complained again..asking why am i always changing lanes, why the rush, why cant i drive at the same pace like the other cars. He gave me lessons again.
He prints direction and tlls me when 2 turn....he is bad at giving directions cause ..sometimes he doesn't say ..ok here turn right or left..he just point with his hand...or sometimes he says wait wait

The thing is we also have a two year old daughter, who I love with all my heart. And I'd still say I love my wife, but things just don't seem to be working. I knew things would be different after we had a baby, but it just seems we're getting further apart. I also travel alot for my job, I'm gone usually every other weekend for alot of the year, I do get some nice time off, and on those vacations it seems like everything is good. But then it's back to work and it's the same thing.

I also can't stand the idea of leaving or being apart from my daughter, but is it better for her to live with two parents that seem to be growing further apart. Also, because of all this I keep having to fight the temptation of cheating on her, and it seems the harder to avoid it, the more women pop up who try to get it to happen.

What should I do?

My divorce decree lists the holiday visitation schedule with "odd" or "even" years and which parent gets my son that year. My divorce decree reads as follows:

New Years Eve/Day
12/31 8 am - 1/1 8pm

Odd Years=Mother (me), Even Years=Father (him)

I was under the impression that 12/31/2007 was an "odd" year so I was supposed to have my son. My ex-husband, however (who had him this weekend) drove my son to another state without telling me and is refusing to bring my son back. My Order for Protection is also tied into this visitation schedule, so if he doesn't follow it, it's an OFP violation.

So, simply enough, am I right or wrong? Is 12/31/2007 8am-1/1/2008 8pm an "odd" holiday or an "even" holiday and why? I can't get a hold of my lawyer to ask her.

Part of the reason that this is important is that I'm a nurse and the schedule was supposed to be associated with my work holiday schedule. (I worked Christmas this year=father and have New Year's Off=mother).

Thanks,
Kelly

Any advice on how to trust your significant other when you have been lied to? It has been 4 years and I am still extremely suspicious. Any serious advice would be really helpful.

We've been together for almost 4 years,we have a 3 year old son.I have a feeling he's going to propose on New Years because lately all he's talked about is marraige, and how he wants us to spend the rest of our lives together. He keeps asking how I feel about marriage and all the other obvious signs of a proposal. He's 27 and I'm 19.(We met when I was really young and I lied to him about my age)Anyways he knows how old I really am now,and I love him.But then again I think I am too young.

I'm a divorced guy and I'm dating someone who is so much like my ex in habits, mannerisms, finance, conversation, arguments, etc... Traits that made me unhappy with my ex which was a marriage of me basically settling. However, I'm beginning to realize that two people can't always be happy in a marriage. If the man can do whatever it takes to make the woman happpy, then that's all that counts, right? I accepted my ex's traits and the way she was, so I guess I should just accept my girlfriend's traits. It doesn't make me happy but it will make her happy that I accept them and the relationship should work, correct?
