You could trip and fall within your own shelter. I am me. I did not choose to be here nor did I choose the way I look. I can only control my actions. If people cannot or do not agree with those actions, then they are entitled to that opinion. Just be yourself. Who cares what everyone else is? Not me.

I think working on your issues of low self esteem would be wiser than locking yourself away from it! Do some self talk-and some reading or go to counseling to improve your confidence-you are worth more than you think right now!

Of course not, you need to get out and be with people as much as possible. That is one of our basic needs. Isolating yourself because of perceived flaws is very depressing. Holiday's are hard, lots of peple get down. Take advantage of the new year, and decide to do things differently. Change a few things to make yourself feel better, new hair style, exercise, change your eating habits, buy some fresh flowers and candles, or rearrange the house and paint something. You would be surprised how making some small changes and ignoring your thinking patterns of feeling others are better can brighten your day.
I try to do this every year, no matter how I feel. It cleans out the cobwebs, and makes me take a good look at what I can do to make myself happier.
