Family - April 2007

My friend is in her forties and involved with a PHd who is almost sixty. Is it possible to actually be attracted in some strange way to someone old enough to be your father? Everyone of her siblings, nieces, nephews, her mother, her dad, her ex-husband, her kids and all her friends, the neighbors, and all the distant relatives, and her old teachers, and co-workers and acquaintances are totally against this relationship.
How can so many people be wrong?
Here is my question.......how can a relationship between them be good when it is making so many others unhappy? He is not attractive and she is very pretty. She also is educated. But is something wrong when so many people see it as absurd?
How could it actually be possible for them to be happy when he is so dang old? BTW, he is always giving her money. Hello!

Me and her broke up after 2 weeks, I am 17, and she is 15. My ex-girlfriend, her brother and one of his friends was driving down the road and whipped out in front of my mom, brother, and step father and cut them off till they pulled over to the side of the road and both of the males in the car jumped out and headed toward the car my family was in while one of the males reached under the seat for a weapon, when my family sped off. I live in a VERY rural town with only 3000 people in it and we only have 3 cops, so I feel there is not much that I can do about this and I need help. I don't know what to do and I had no idea she would go this far and go after my family, we both agreed on the breakup and it wasn't that bad. I just don't get it and I am so scared they will hurt my family or me. What can I do?

my step daughter says as long as she goes to college we have to pay for it. my husband raised her since her mom decided she did not want to be a mom. I think she is over the age limit that we have to pay. your input is appreciated.

My ex is like the boy in the plastic bubble. Everything makes him nervous. When our kids get loud he gets nervous, if anything is messy he gets nervous. on Christmas the kids started to act up, and instead of handling it he got really weird and nervous and kind of pushed us out to leave. His mother says oh no he is getting nervous and we don't want to make him nervous. He said one of the reasons he left was that my house was to loud with our kids and the animals. And that his new girlfriends house is quite, there are no kids and they can do what they want.And when he does have the kids he acts depressed like he does not want to be there. He is on the phone a lot when they are with him. He just wants to primp himself and listen to rock music. Almost like a teenager, he is 41. He only thinks of himself. Is this weird?

I have a brother whose 16 and he recently joined a band, got a girlfriend and started a band with his friends. Because of all of these he hasn't been talking to me or even seeing me at all. Some days his only words to me are "Beat it" or "Go Away". I try to be nice but he's always mean to me. He is going to go away to college in two years and complains that we aren't nice to him and that he's only going to remember us as being jerks, even though we struggle just to see him once during the day. I'm so sad and I don't know why I can but I want my brother to be my good friend like he was a couple of years ago. Please help me, it's destroying my life.

My friend and her family need to come up with $2000.00 to pay their rent or the landlord is going to throw them out. They have until Friday to get the money. They have nowhere to go. They really don't want to move. I really don't want them to move either. How can they get the money to pay there rent?

OK, I am in 6th grade and I decided to quit Track. My dad thinks i am still in it since i got my t-shirt and he is asking me "when is your 1st meet?" and i dont know how to tell him because he is so proud of me and there is absolutly no way i could get back in track. How do i tell him without him getting mad at me or hurting his feelings?

When she was 12 I had her go live with her dad since I was moving out of state. The next yr she begged me to fight for custody back. I refused for 3 months. Then her dad exploded on her telling her that he would disown her if she told the judge she wanted to live with me. I suggested therapy. I drove 4 hrs ONE way to these therapy session (8 of them). By the end I agreed with my daughter, as well did the therapist, she was better off with me. Her father filed a petition to the court to take time away from me. I countersued for custody. This past Sept we all agreed that our daughter was to finish her middle school with him. Upon her 14th bday she would tell us which she wanted to live. If it was me, I had to file the petition to swap custody. March 22, her bday, she said ME so I filed the paperwork. Today in court her dad told us she changed her mind. She is now dating a 17yr old & would like one more yr there. The judge is bringing her in to talk to her alone. I'm appauld!

While she was visiting (wife is out of the country) we went dancing and things got a bit heated. There was alot of touching a little kissing. When we got home there was more touching. We always stop but I really would like to go on, just once.

For some reason i cant stand my dad! When he is in the same room i have to go. We have no relationship whats so ever and i dont know why. I dont even remember the last time we spoke. I am not really close to any of my family but we do speak. But my dad doesnt seem to like me and seems to do things to really annoy me. When i was little i was scared of him but now i am not. Do you think thats why i dont like him? I really have no idea, its weird. I just have this hated feeling towards him. *They freak when i talk bout guys (i am almost 12!)
*they walk in on me!
*they have read a diary of mine
*i am afraid to ask them questions
*they e-mail my teachers to make sure i turn in EVERY paper
*Watch me do my homework
It is so annoying!
I want to date guys and go to the movies with them(eventully)
but it isnt gonna happen!(PARENTS ARE WAY TO OVERPROTECTED!)
They also want me to homeschool because of "Bad school" but i have friends and crushes!

She's really stressed out over a bunch of stuff - like work, taking me to my games and practices, taxes, and she just had surgery about a month ago and she still doesn't feel well. But she gets mad over every little thing now. She'll just start yelling at me and saying things that make me wanna cry. Everytime I try to talk to her or suggest someone else drive me to my games and stuff she yells at me even more. I think the best thing might be to stay away from her, but it's kinda hard since I can't drive yet. What can I do?

My daughter is 20 (almost 21) and has two kids 2 yrs and 9 mo. We have repeatedly taken her in, bought her a car (which she sold) and have supported her and her kids. She is disrespectful, doesn't pick up after herself, and we are sick of it. Oh and the two kids have different fathers and neither pay child support.

She has no high school diploma, no job, and nowhere else to go and yet she still refuses to do her share. We want to drop her off at the homeless shelter but we're guilty about granchildren.

Mother in law is a very mean woman. I have known her for over 20 years and tolerated her abusive ways. She is an alcoholic with a mouth like a trash can. I have now cut her off completely, don't alow her near my family, don't take her calls and try to avoid her in everyway. A short discription of what she does - she is intoxicated every 2nd or third day, she calls my home, work, parents, friends and anyone I know and says the most horific things. Since my husband & myself don't take her calls she leaves about on average 30 messages on our mobiles daily, emails, writes letters and so on. She gave up her son (my husband) when he was 4 months old as she wanted to have a good life. Her mother adopted him and brought him up. She was alowed to see him on a daily basis. Since I met her 20 yrs ago I have hardly known her to be sober. She is not only rude but tells horific lies. I need advise on how to stop her harrasment and that she stays away forever.

Ok I found Out that my Dad Who have Not been in my life years Has Insurance on me After I told Him That I didn't want him to put in Insurance He fourged My signature anyway,What Can I do about This Can He Get In trouble for this????BTW I'm a 28 year old women Married with Kids and Have My Own Insurance.Someone Please Tell me What Can I do In This Situation???True Honest Answers Only Please.

My mother came to visit with her RV and her spouse, she drove her 35ft RV into my grass and got it stuck up to the axles, has to call a wrecker in to get to PULLED out. So needless to say I have huge holes and divites in my grass. The problem is they just left, never helped fill in the holes, never tried to help clean up the mess, and then acted like nothing was done. AHHHHHH help what should I do....

They have been seeing each other since Christmas 06 & things moved fast..he went back to his wife once already but has decided to proceed with the divorce. He stayed at our house for awhile & now his parents (mind you, he is almost 50 yo) are strict catholics & do not feel its right he stays at our house. So he is staying with his sister now. I just don't want him coming back & forth & playing with my moms emotions. On the positive side, they have both helped each other through issues, been great friends to each other & also take bible study classes together. My mom is aware he has baggage is that there is a possibility that this may not work out. But you can't help your feelings!

we ve been married 2 months and we thousands of miles away from both our families. the other day my father in law, while talkin to me made a comment that my father is not cultured enuf. all i can remember now is the rage i felt and i just told him thats the way my dad is and i cant do anything abt it. after this i spent the whole night crying and my hubby consoled me. later when i wanted to talk abt it he blamed everything on me and my father. and i was just shocked anyways we agreed not to talk abt it. what if he brings it up again ? he says my dad said rude things to him and i know for sure that he is lying since my dad never spoke to him in my absence. how can he do this ? i donno how to react at all..

In our family we have a 'Heffer' or a 40 something woman who has never had a child. Please stay with me while I explain why I call her a "Heffer". She starts rumors in the family and lies to everyone to puff up her own sad looking chest. She will be a little sheep to get info and then use it out of context to wreck everyones day. As long as all the family is fighting, she is happy. Of course all the family has kids and a life. Shooting women isn't legal in our neck of the woods, so I could use some feed back here.
