My ex is like the boy in the plastic bubble. Everything makes him nervous. When our kids get loud he gets nervous, if anything is messy he gets nervous. on Christmas the kids started to act up, and instead of handling it he got really weird and nervous and kind of pushed us out to leave. His mother says oh no he is getting nervous and we don't want to make him nervous. He said one of the reasons he left was that my house was to loud with our kids and the animals. And that his new girlfriends house is quite, there are no kids and they can do what they want. And when he does have the kids he acts depressed like he does not want to be there. He is on the phone a lot when they are with him. He just wants to primp himself and listen to rock music. Almost like a teenager, he is 41. He only thinks of himself. Is this weird?

If he doesn't even want his own kids around then I think he has a problem. Don't know what you could do about it though because it sounds like he has always been that way. If it were me, I wouldn't want my kids to go to his house. They can surely sense his feelings of not wanting them around and I wouldn't want them to be in that kind of environment. They, and you deserve better treatment. If he is 41 and all he wants to do is primp and listen to rock music he needs to grow up and accept his responsibilities.

I think hes having a breakdown, sort of a midlife crisis one maybe. I think he needs to get help- but this cannot be done for him- he has to do this himself. He has to first realise he has a problem, second realise he cant cope with it alone, third ask for help, and forth work on getting better through trust and perseverence.
Try talking to him, tell him you are worried, say why you are worried, and suggest you are there if he wants to talk or give hime the number of someone he an talk to.

Well I'm assuming you were with him for quite awhile if you have children together you should already know his habits. It's not weird for a single man his age to want to look good and feel young again, it's natural.
I'm sure the new girlfriend pisses you off and having him throw her in your face probably pisses you off too. Believe I know about the new childless younger girlfriends and how irritating it can be. Don't worry, just give yourself some time sooner or later all of you will adjust to this new life and you'll feel better.
