Me and her broke up after 2 weeks, I am 17, and she is 15. My ex-girlfriend, her brother and one of his friends was driving down the road and whipped out in front of my mom, brother, and step father and cut them off till they pulled over to the side of the road and both of the males in the car jumped out and headed toward the car my family was in while one of the males reached under the seat for a weapon, when my family sped off. I live in a VERY rural town with only 3000 people in it and we only have 3 cops, so I feel there is not much that I can do about this and I need help. I don't know what to do and I had no idea she would go this far and go after my family, we both agreed on the breakup and it wasn't that bad. I just don't get it and I am so scared they will hurt my family or me. What can I do?

Okay, small town, that is the number one issue for a problem. All of the community members must be able to co exist. If there is any reason that this is not happening then the thing that you should do is try to find out is why. You say it is because you and a girl broke up after a 2 wk relationship. My goodness son what did you do or not do that caused all this ruckus in a 2 wk period? You say that you both agreed on the breakup, but obviously there was a problem for the girlfriends family. Maybe they wanted to get rid of her and you were a prime candidate. No, I am just kidding there, may I suggest that you and the other parties involved have a small town gathering at a restaurant or coffee shop and have a meeting of the minds and find out what the hoopla is all about. Nothing you have mentioned should have caused the horrible behavior of several adults as you have described. Something is missing if family members of your ex are threatening lives of your family members. This just doesn't make any sense. However, you should not take any chances that are put anyone in a potentially harmful situation. If you are all adults then handle this like adults and quit pointing the finger and buck up to your responsibilities. Everyone on this planet is sue crazy and relying on the law to settle stuff that back in a time people were able to hash out on their own, peacefully. I must add that if the above mentioned suggestion is highly unlikely, then I agree with mom bear. Good Luck!

You absolutely must file a police report at once. The police can then direct you on how to handle this situation.

In addition, consult with a lawyer about obtaining a restraining order. This is probably not the last time that family will act against your family members; a restraining order may inhibit their actions.

The court may also consider setting up a mediation process wherein the two families can discuss any problems and come to agreement on solutions.

Don't ever think there is not much you can do; there is always something, and you just need to keep on searching until you can be certain your family is and will continue to be safe.

Get a restraining order. She sounds like she had serious problems.
