I've been a regular visitor of discussion boards since I entered university..u ppl have a get to hear a very distorted view of my religion as portrayed by ur biased media..I learned a few things this year. I learned that ignorance and hate are the root of all evil and the only way that they can be eradicated is through education. I learned that bigotry and racism can displace certain ethnic groups, but they must go on living in the manner that they have been. But most of all, I learned that I must be able to confront ignorant and racist comments and situations, to defend my faith and to defend my way of life...
sincerely..

according to my history teacher from 11th grade, the picture we see of Jesus is really a picture of a relative or friend from the painter and that as proof that the picture isnt real, the bible describes Jesus in a different way. so if the picture or image we see of Jesus is wrong and hes described differently in the bible then shouldnt we change it so it matches?

Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins so that we could be free and clean from sin. This way God would not punish us for our sins. But for what deed?? After he sacrificed himself we still continued to sin anyway. It's like washing a dish but then dirt it with new food again. What was the point? If Jesus needed to sacrifice himself for us to clean our sins so that God would not terminate us then why does he not sacrifice himself for the second, third, fourth,...so on? I mean, if it was required for him to sacrifice himself for us then it meant for nothing since we still are sinful. Was his sacrifice not meaningless then?

These are three of my favorite posters here on R&S. I love reading their questions and answers here in R&S. If I ever were to vote on the creation of an R&S "think tank", I would put these three guys at the top of the list for their intellect, logic, and humor.

But have a glimpse at their avatars, they look almost identical!

They are three of the brightest R&Sers, appear to have totally different agendas, and I have yet to see them answer one of the other's Q's.

Are these three guys triplets that were separated at birth, or what?

Or are they clones of some mad genetic experiment?

Or maybe they're all just the same person. The three personas of a stark mad schizophrenic.

Fellow R&Sers, please decide.

And this one is older than yours!
"So many Muslims have this belief that everything between the two covers of the Koran is just God's unaltered word," he says. "They like to quote the textual work that shows that the Bible has a history and did not fall straight out of the sky, but until now the Koran has been out of this discussion. The only way to break through this wall is to prove that the Koran has a history too. The Sana'a fragments will help us to do this."

let's say there is no God and christians are all crazy...if you don't believe then you live a life of sin, whatever. if you do believe they you get a reason to strive to better yourself.

now let's say there is a God...if you believe you have the creator of the universe to guide you in this world he created, more joy than you can contain, and you go to heaven and feel no pain, no hurt, only joy. but if you don't believe then you spend eternity suffering in hell apart from God.

truely...which is worse? Believe in God and he doesn't exist or don't believe and he does....think about it.

Islam has no problem with animals going through extreme evolutionary changes .

However Islam does say that humans were created in the form we are in today but there has been a certain amount of evolution concerning our size and lifespan.

So would the scientists classify us Muslims as believers in evolutionary "change" in a limited, finite sense ?

Well I was raised Christian, but now that im getting older, Im not so much believing it. Christian is a man made religion, as as many other religions. So im doubting and questioning many things about Christianity. The Bible was written by man so you know it can be fully accurate. Im so confused on whether at this point im atheist, agnostic, or whatever. I just dont know anymore. I just know im not Christian.

Someone told me 'everyone' hides sexual abuse in churches and she (yes she) said this specifically included the victims! Are people not concerned by how little the church and its followers understand child psychology?

Why do we have to drag churches AND their followers kicking and screaming into the Courts just to get justice?

i have some speculations about life before the Flood:

- the ozone layer is different in the ancient days.
- the level of oxygen is different
- the free radicals are absent or in smaller amounts
- the early Mankind was very intelligent, much more intelligent than modern day man.
- the early Man worshipped one God, but later became polytheists.
- the Flood changed much of the earth - leading to many illnesses and curses
- Noah cursed his son Ham, the forefather of the Africans. Maybe that is why Africa is quite barren nowadays. It was because of one righteous person's curse.
- Adam was very handsome, intelligent and God fearing. He had great knowlege.

Christians, what do you think? Atheists, please DO NOT answer.

if you are willing to take a stance on issues like abortion as being simply liberal and claim it's one's own choice when it involves a life of an unborn baby (i don't see how child molestation is any worse - anyone willing to take a stance on this as being liberal?) why not do the same for religious beliefs? why not consider the possibility of existence of God as being right?

Maybe I’m not giving Christians enough credit. I mean, pretty soon, it’s going to be like a person with water up to their neck saying, “The boat is not sinking.” This surely can’t be easy to do…

What is your take on this?

"Is There Creation? Or Evolution? Or Both?

Quran Teaches - BOTH!

It says, "Allah is - Al Khaliq" (The Creator)
It also says, "Allah is - Al Bari" (The Evolver)

For the Muslim there is no need for separation between religion and science. It is understood from the Quran, revealed over 1,400 years ago, that there is both; "Creation" and "Evolution." And in both instances, it is only Allah who is "Able to do all things." In fact, it was the Muslim scientists, more than 1,000 years ago, who set the stage for the adancement of learning, technology and disciplines in science that we know today."
