Is it possible to somehow keep in mind other perspectives and thus enhance the joy in my own life?
To me a good day is being at home with the wife. High, full, and wonderful company to boot. Now when I must drudge off to work that first day after a vacation, I can get quite fussy and grumpity, but I do it on a full belly. Whereas there are those that a good day is one good meal. So by his standard I am having a GREAT day. And then again there are those of our military who think of a good day as being one in which no one around them dies. By their standard I am sitting fat.
Perspective is a very precarious thing, dont you think?

I believe my new years resolution will have to be keeping my own discontent within a larger perspective.

in the movie 'talladega night:the ballad of ricky bobby', there were scenes where ricky bobby prayed to god in i should say a rude manner. i know that it's just a joke for a movie.
but is it considered a sin?

I am not a Catholic and really haven't ever talked to one about religion, so I hope this question doesn't offend.
Why do Catholics follow a Pope? Why does the Pope dress in such ornate garb?Jesus did not wear such garments I don't believe, he was a very humble man.
If they believe Peter was the first Pope ,why can't Pope's get married? Peter was married.
When Jesus said to Peter "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church." Couldn't Jesus have been speaking about himself and not Peter? For instance he could have pointed to Peter and said "You are Peter, then point to himself and say "And on this rock I will build my church."

When I was seven my family moved to Shreveport, Louisianna from Minniapolis, Minnesota. At the time I was a pretty devout little christian, but I also was raised by pretty rebelious parents who had gone to UW Madison (which sums it up there), so I was pretty open minded and tolerant of other people and their religions. Soon after I moved there I quickly became friends with a kid on my street who also had just moved to Louisianna from N. Carolina.

One day we were playing toy guns, and I brought up evolution, which in my family has always been accepted. My friend, being a very devout Baptist told me that I was going to go to hell and at the moment he ran inside his house and got his mom to come out. She then read to me a series of passages from the bible 'explaining why' I will go to hell. Thus began my decline in faith in a religion that discourages rational thought.

One day I went to church with my friend to a baptist megachurch. There I went to a bible school class which...

I once had this dream when (I think) I was about 12 years old. I first was in this horrible place where it felt like prison, but then I flew away to this prismatic land with this girl that I remember to look like a Lisa Simpson (cartoonish), and she said that she was my spirit guide. She talked about how love, and I felt how much love there was there. I believe there were temples there as well, and it was everything was perfect. It seemed like there was energy moving there. This is before I knew anything about spirit guides, and I never heard the term used before. What was this experience? I remember it being very long. It felt very real, and before I got to the negative place I went through a wall opening in my bathroom closet (I don't know if this was a dream since although there is something that you can remove in that closet in that spot where this was the opening, it is closed and it leads to pipes. It's too narrow to get through physically.) What was this experience?

I am embarrassed by the number of people on Yahoo who claim Christianity but show their horrendous lack of basic Bible reading and comprehension.

Atheists, on the other hand, are to be commended for their knowledge of scripture as a whole. At least they know what they stand against. Many Christians on here do not even know what they stand for!

i'm 14 and i'm an athiest and i'm just curious as to how many people out there share my beliefs (or lack thereof) i know there's alot. also, would you consider my generation to be somewhat athiest heavy? it's strange. i live in ohio and i know quite a few people at my school that are athiest. it just seems that there are a whole lot of athiest youths today compared to 50 years ago. why do you think this is? thanks for your answers in advance. i'm very interested to see what you all think.

I'm curious, because even before I became a Christian (as an adult) I always knew there was a God. I just didn't know who or what was God and I didn't realize He wanted anything to do with me. Do all Humans know of Gods existance and just deny it?

You've probably read the last question I posted...which involved something other than this. I believe in God, and I KNOW that most of you will say I don't after you've read this. BUT, here goes...

I don't understand the bible and Christians. The bible speaks of loving your neigbor as you would love yourself, but yet, most christains dislike anyhthing that is different. Like for instance, if a person is an atheist they automatically go to hell, or if a person is gay, they are looked down upon. I mean, it doesn't make sense. Aren't Christians supposed to be understanding unstead of judgemental?I mean seriosly..the last question I wrote was asking if I will go to hell if I don't enjoy attending church but I still believe in god. I got some answers that basically told me I was a non believer! Why is that? I mean, I BELIEVE IN GOD. Isn't that the main point? Why is it so important to go out and sing songs to prove to everyone that I'm a believer? I believe in god and so does my family.

is anyone else proud of Miley Cyrus for standing up for her faith in a Hollywood world?
2 times recently i've heard her make a public statement.
on dick clark's new years eve she commented that it was a God thing that she had made it this far.
and with the stupid rumors of her being lesbian (our world is demented; 15 year old girls cant have a party without there being something wrong) she said it was just another way satan was trying to attack her and she wasn't gonna give in.

i know neither one is a direct reference to her faith, but im proud of her for saying even that much.
im not exactly a fan of her music, its alright (the miley music is much better than the "hannah montana" music, not to mention she sings with a different tone to her voice when shes miley; she sounds alot better)
im not the only one who actually still likes her other than the crazed fans, am i?
