You've probably read the last question I posted...which involved something other than this. I believe in God, and I KNOW that most of you will say I don't after you've read this. BUT, here goes...

I don't understand the bible and Christians. The bible speaks of loving your neigbor as you would love yourself, but yet, most christains dislike anyhthing that is different. Like for instance, if a person is an atheist they automatically go to hell, or if a person is gay, they are looked down upon. I mean, it doesn't make sense. Aren't Christians supposed to be understanding unstead of judgemental?I mean seriosly..the last question I wrote was asking if I will go to hell if I don't enjoy attending church but I still believe in god. I got some answers that basically told me I was a non believer! Why is that? I mean, I BELIEVE IN GOD. Isn't that the main point? Why is it so important to go out and sing songs to prove to everyone that I'm a believer? I believe in god and so does my family.

So why is that a problem?

I'm just venting.

The Bible says so many things, but its followers do the opposite (not all, but a lot)

Yes, you are right, there are a lot of people that claim to be Christians but they sure don't act like it do they? They should not be judging anyone. Christ is the one who will Judge. They should tell the unbelievers and the gay people what the Bible teaches about unbelievers and gay people. They should not be looking down on them as if they were better. They are not better and with that kind of attitude I would even have to wonder if they themselves were truly saved. The Bible teaches that their will be a lot of Christians in Hell. People professing to be of God but in their Hearts they are not.
Who ever it was that told you, that you had to attend a Church to be a believer was way out of line, and way wrong. Jesus will Judge on ones Heart, not the Church they go to, not the Preacher they listen to, and sure not the ones attending a Church service. When we all stand before our Lord Jesus at Judgment Time we had all better be ready to answer for all the things we have done, thoughts we have had, and actions we have taken. There will be no one else there to side with us, we will be Judged on our own, so don't let bad Christians tell you anything, they need to clean up their own lives first before they think they can judge someone else. All can enter into the Kingdom of God, all they have to do is repent and be saved, regardless of who they are, are what they have done.

it is not "whacko" to defend your guy or woman destiny. To have God working on your edge. it relatively is "whacko" to tutor Him away. Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of the international. there is not any longer sufficient room to accurately clarify all that Jesus is. you will would desire to seek for that out for your self "enable each and every guy artwork out his own salvation with worry and trembling". next, the bible is the Holy word of God. in case you may no longer understand what's written, there are bibles that have been printed on your particular language and talents to appreciate. they selection from newborn's bibles all a thank you to the learn bible (which in many cases explains what the passages propose intimately). once you're nevertheless no longer able to appreciate what you examine, i might propose attending a church or prayer assembly. There mature Christians would be waiting to lead you into the understanding of the reality. in many cases time, narrow minded people (which includes your self..or so it variety of feels out of your determination of communicate in the above referenced question) have a lot difficulty in understand-how God or His babies. the terror of the Lord is the initiating of know-how. in case you % to appreciate what the bible is all approximately, shall I propose which you examine it. i'm helpful you will no longer have any hassle finding some variety of translation you may understand. even whether it relatively is in the newborn's area. Have an outstanding day.

you are correctly describing many, many people who claim to be be christian, but are just religious people who dont truly know God....but the bible says if we dont have love, we dont know God, because God is love. so, you need to stop comparing yourself to the "christians" or church people and compare yourself to what Jesus requires of you.....to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself"

believing in God will not save you! true beleif requires and action to follow it! if you truly believe in God, if you truly believe in the cross, if you truly believe you will Obey the word of God, becuase you know its the way! the bible states that its not enough just to believe, because and i quote..."even the demons believe there is a God"

Think about what you believe..and please get in the word of God, and dont compare yourself to others....the word of God is all you need!

Sabby, you ask your question as if you think there's some contradiction between loving people on the one hand, and holding that there's such a thing as right and wrong on the other. That is, you seem to think that it's unloving to saying that another person has done something wrong.

But suppose a Christian holds that some act--say punching somebody in the nose for no reason--is wrong. And suppose that Christian witnesses somebody punching another in the nose for no reason. Wouldn't the Christian automatically think the person had done something wrong? Is that unloving?

If that's unloving, then I submit that it's impossible for anybody with a conscience to love anybody else. The reason is that anybody with a conscience has a sense of right and wrong, and each one of us has done something wrong. If recognizing the wrongdoing of others is unloving, then it's impossible for anybody to love anybody else unless they are a sociopath and have no conscience.

So I don't think there is any contradiction between loving somebody on the one hand, and thinking they've done wrong on the other. In fact, parents quite often recognize wrong-doing in their children even though they love them. In fact, it's the parent's love for the children that compells the parents to try to teach their children to do right. Teaching them to do right ensures a better life for the child. Recognizing the wrongdoing and trying to correct it, is actually a very loving thing to do.

And for Christians who believe God will punish people for their sins, it would be unloving for them if they never spoke up about wrongdoing at all to give any sort of warning, or to try to dissuade people from wrongdoing.

But even without a belief in God punishing people, how loving would it be to sit back and watch one person harm another person without doing anything about it? Neither speaking up, nor trying to discourage the offender?

Mat. 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Not all who know claim him KNOW him.

I think you're letting this bother you too much. You really don't have to answer to anyone for what you believe. Christians believe in church attendance so strongly because it provides a place for comfort and encouragement, a place to make friends with people who have similar values, and of course it's a place to learn. Don't get so worked up about what other people think. It's not worth it.

What a believer does cannot take away from the Holiness of God. God is Who He Is and we all are on different stages in our journey towards Him. You too are being judgemental...its a human inclination...some of us suffer from it more than others not just christians
