Is it possible to somehow keep in mind other perspectives and thus enhance the joy in my own life?
To me a good day is being at home with the wife. High, full, and wonderful company to boot. Now when I must drudge off to work that first day after a vacation, I can get quite fussy and grumpity, but I do it on a full belly. Whereas there are those that a good day is one good meal. So by his standard I am having a GREAT day. And then again there are those of our military who think of a good day as being one in which no one around them dies. By their standard I am sitting fat.
Perspective is a very precarious thing, dont you think?

I believe my new years resolution will have to be keeping my own discontent within a larger perspective.

It is my goal as well, I have and probably will always have to work hard on keeping my importance or my lack thereof in the big scheme of things in perspective, especially since I claim to love my fellow human beings and must learn to keep my personal sufferings, satisfactions and goals out of my reasoning and justification for my existence there by earning more tolerance.
This will be my one employment from which I will never be able to retire.

I also believe that those that are satiated with one meal a day or the soldier that considers a"Good day" as one in which no companion of his has died probably have the true perspective of what is the sense of complete fulfilment and retain their existence in perspective to one another.

I am guilty of this also. Anything can change my mood, a flat tire, the boss in a bad mood, etc. I also need to learn to be more level. To be able to always stand in one place & not let my head get jerked around by the outside stuff.

I love your New Years Resolution!. I think we are all guilty of this to some degree or another, at least I know I am. I have come to know that my attitude has everything to do with how I see, & how I see is something I can change!.
Blessings of Peace & Joy for this New Year!

like most things, "Good day" depends on frame of reference, and 'good aim' can get you a 'good frame'

reminiscent of "8-fold path" as avenue to end of suffering

but then again, I haven't yet had any coffee all year long

happy new year

you make a good point...one which i think about often.

i'm disabled...to some people that would seem pretty bad, but what i have is not fatal and i can still walk. to me i think i'm doing pretty good.

it's all about the perspective.

good question.

hehe Yes, Jamus, perspective is everything. The window by which we perceive our realities.
