There is no such thing as a true atheist. Everybody worships something. To some money is their god. They may not believe in the Christian God of the Bible, but they worship something - whether it be money, fame, beauty, success, nature, "mother earth" or whatever. Frequently, they won't admit to worshiping anything, but look at what they spend their time and $$ on and it is a safe bet that's what they worship.
Just because they don't acknowledge it doesn't make it any less true.

it extremely is just one thing that the fundies tell themselves to make themselves experience extra sensible approximately God. you spot, they might desire to believe that atheists have "chosen" to no longer believe in God. inspite of each and every little thing, how do you "%" to no longer believe in some thing which you merely understand would not exist. for occasion, do you actively % to no longer believe in Santa, or do you merely understand that he would not exist? while it comes right down to it, it is not in all likelihood a call, it is just one thing you have primary as actuality in view which you may no longer turn around at a 2d's observe and determine which you will believe in Santa (or God). although, this undermines the comprehensive fundy mindset. in case you haven't any longer "chosen" to no longer believe in God, then that would desire to signify that God himself relatively created you in that form. See? All of Christian dogma starts to sparkling up once you think of of it in those words. it extremely is why they delude themselves and act as though they understand what is going on in people's minds. by the style, it extremely is extraordinarily a lot the comparable reason that they are going to insist that homosexuals have "chosen" to be that way.

You didn't KNOW anything, you BELIEVED.
And yes, we really do lack belief in an invisible spirit god in the sky, just as you lack belief in Santa and the Tooth Fairy.
I was born atheist. So were you. It is the natural state.

I simply do not believe. I suppose you might call it a gut reaction. To me saying "I believe in God." would feel like telling a lie - that's why I've always felt that it was impossible for me to be religious. I respect truth and as a consequence the rest of the religion would be a contradiction for me, because I don't believe in God.

There is no proof that God exists. There's also no proof, other than the bible, that Jesus ever existed.

I was raised Christian, but deep down in my gut I don't think I ever believed in God. Seemed to fall into the same category as Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny.

yep, It's like knowing there is no santa claus.... it is not anything mysterious.... it's just from what I know, it is logically, scientifically and philosphically impossible for any religious deity to exist.
People born into a society of a lot of god-believers will tend to believe in a god, unless they are told otherwise.
