Genesis 6-7:
God drowns everything, including every newborn, infant, toddler, and child.

Matthew 24: 38-39:
God drowned them without warning.

If you think worshipping that thing for eternity is a "carrot", think again.

If you think being condemned by a monster is a "stick", think again.

You may hate humanity enough to worship the thing that tried to wipe it out, but there are those who love humanity, compassion and justice who refuse to bend knee to a god-construct so immature and malicious as to make Satan blush.

Why do you worship such an atrocity-monger as this thing in your bible?

I have a friend, who is a strong Christian, but he insists that the virgin birth is symbolic because Jesus is from the line of David thru Joseph not Mary, so according to him the virgin birth of Jesus must be symbolic of something else, I was wondering, does this mean he's still saved?

My entire family believes in god under the faith of Christianity. My older brother and I are more loosely affiliated with practicing the religion. My older brother at least studies the bible, I on the other hand do not. I have a younger brother and sister as well. They seem to be very religious. They both seem to have a twisted sort of faith and that is where I am confused. My younger brother obviously must have a more conservative view on Christianity and continuously takes what is written in the bible more literally. He claims that there is no possible way to translate or interpret it. If one does interpret the bible then that leads down the path that the devil has some control over. I can live with his beliefs because at least he is willing to talk or argue about certain points. This way I know where he stands.

My younger sister has adopted some of my younger brother's beliefs, but she has also taken a different route. I am completely conviced that she...

Religious people can't seem to imagine happiness without god, just like heroin addicts can't imagine happiness without their drug...and yet hundreds of millions of atheists lead happy lives, bereft of a need or even a desire for a god’s confirmation and forgiveness.

Are religious people simply to scared to let go of their crutches?

this isnt for all, but the ones that say they felt empty or scared, there is no God in your eyes so why feel those kind of emotions when you decide to leave the faith of God? i heard it several times. what could you be afraid of if God doesnt exsist? why feel empty if He dont exsist?

Genesis 1:5 cleary says that a "day" in the 7 days of creation is actually a 24-hour day, so why is that some
christians say that the each day in the 7 days of creation is not a 24-hour day?

Genesis1:5 "And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."

This verse is pretty clear! For you who don't understand; as long as the light is there it is called day(12 hours) and as long as dark is there it is called night(12 hours). Christians should really entirely stick to what they believe and stand by that! They can't cherry pick and say they believe in some parts of the bible literally and some parts figuratetively! Either take the bible as it is or don't take it at all!

I read this in an answer once and it has bothered me alot.

I know that Satan is a female and painted in the Cistine Chappel as half woman and half snake offering the apple - it is a well known fact that Satan is a Woman = BUT ..

I was thrown for a loop when I saw this in an answer and wanted to know how many people believe this = "Satan does not really appear in the Bible until the New Testament "???

Let us not count where Yahweh is sitting there with his sons and daughters and Satan comes before him ... in the book of IYYOB (Job) ... so - where are the other places she might be spoken of to help this guy out with his well researched statement; i.e., "Satan does not really appear in the Bible until the New Testament "?????

A central thing I have noticed is that respect seems to be pivotal within their culture. Respect is often given before one even knows the individual one is talking to. Growing up in the states ar at least Az I have found that respect is given only after one has proven themself.
Could this difference in culture be somewhat to blame for many of the issues now dividing the world?

Now she wont let me out of sight anywhere in the apartment and just screams when I do. My husband and I both feel, for other reasons as well, that the apartment is haunted. What are your oppinions? Has this happened to you? Should I be concerned?

Probably something like "You guys never listen!" It's not the temples or the churches, or the argument over semantics. Its all about the heart. Christians today are the same as the Scribes and Pharassies from the bible, I'm not even Christian and I see this. Well, Jesus is my bud, I just don't worship him.
