I have a friend, who is a strong Christian, but he insists that the virgin birth is symbolic because Jesus is from the line of David thru Joseph not Mary, so according to him the virgin birth of Jesus must be symbolic of something else, I was wondering, does this mean he's still saved?

Yes. One can't be too dogmatic about these things. Rationalism is a gift of God, even if it can be misused. The main thing is to follow what Jesus said.

Maybe, but how does he eliminate original sin. Without the virgin Birth, Jesus would be a sinner, and everything after that would be meaningless. Since Jesus came from a virgin birth we can assume that the original sin is passed along through the male. Since Jesus wasnt conceived like every other human, he side steped the original sin. Joseph adopted Jesus so it doesnt matter whos bloodline goes through David. He was officially through the line of David.

truly, i've got self assurance it must be rendered as the two. The word, of somebody being the seed of a woman (see Genesis financial ruin 3) is incredibly unusual. Later, Jesus’ virgin start might provide meaning to this verse and coach that certainly, it replace right into a prophecy of that far destiny experience. additionally, a “youthful single female” conceiving might hardly be an indication of something holly, events like that take place truly in many situations in this international. --------------- further.(Jeremiah 31:22) "How lengthy wilt thou pass approximately, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a clean factor interior the earth, a woman shall compass a guy." "This “new factor” would be no longer something below the arriving dazzling theory and virgin start of the promised Savior. The be conscious for “compass” skill “enclose,” and no different interpretation of this promise might contain a “new factor.” word the reference additionally to a “virgin of Israel” interior the previous verse. right here verses bring about the large promise of the “new covenant” in Jeremiah 31:31 and following HMM."

Yes, so long as he has entered the waters of baptisim. Knowledge is given a little at a time, line upon line, here a little and there a little. His undersatnding may imply that she was not a God but a being in whom God chose to give birth. Some say here role was devine, I agree but...I don't worship her, She's not my God, She is the mother of God of the Old Testament, Jesus Christ. The main thing is to remember to be a friend, unless your friendships imposses you to comprimise your own faith, he needs you as a friend. We all one day be united in faith unltil then is why we have so many different religons but having said that we can still be united in faith. they will chose one day or another but for now he is your friend as is Jesus Christs brother.

If your friend doesn't believe what the Bible clearly states then mayhap there is a danger to his salvation. There are many religions out there that teach many things...false doctrine. Some state that Jesus is not God and etc. What convinces you that your friend is a strong Christian? To me that is a person who not only follows Christ and has recieved Him but as well recieves His Word as the indisputable truth. The Virgin Birth is much critized because of its improbability but it would have to be so...for many reasons.

Mary was from the line of David also.

she gave to Jesus His humanity in the same way that all mothers give to their children their humanity. He took from her His very Flesh and Blood! It was through her that our Lord "was made of the seed of David according to the flesh" (Romans 1:3). As Ireneus of Lyons asked in his Adversus haereses (ca A.D. 180), "...why did He come down into her if He were to take nothing of her?"

to be saved u must accept Jesus as your personal savior and repent of your sins. If he did that then he is saved and the Lord will help him with his misconceptions of Jesus' birth

Mary is from the line of David. tell your friend to study more about what he's reading, if he really wants to know what real truth is (the truth that is historically correct), and not just his own concept of truth.

If you accept him turning water into wine and raising the dead, why not the virgin birth?

Deliverance isn't that black and white.

God accepts anyone to cries out for him.

He denies no one's hand.

keep that in mind.
