Is it not just a logical conclusion? Nobody chooses to come to a logical conclusion, they choose to think, and if that thinking leads to atheism then it's not really their fault, is it? So why do religious freaks think we'll go to Hell? Isn't that a bit mean and thoughtless?

and he died on the cross for our sins and has taken Jesus into their heart and was baptized, but drinks and does drugs somtimes, or they going to hell? They ask for forgivesness all the time for this but they still do it , like they're addicted. Is this a sure fire way to go to Hell instead of Heaven? Doesn't God know their heart and he forgives them? How many times does he forgive them for the same sin?

I have heard many incidences when people have claimed that god/prayer has saved them e.g. car accidents or other dangerous situations and that prayer has healed the sick.
What I cannot understand is why he would save these individuals, and use his power to intervene, but not intervene when a child starves to death, or when a nation looses people because of drought, when innocent people loose people they care for in a civil war they don't want or understand.
Why would he help some big, fat westerner survive because he prays and not an innocent (who may or may not pray)?
Why would he answer prayers to help people get the job they want, loose weight, give up smoking etc and allow the attrocities that exist for many innocents to perpetuate?

Abraham was chosen to be a Great Prophet of the Creator of the Universe.

Abraham had two sons who were both to be blessed with a Holy Covenant at separate times.

The Holy Covenant are promises from The Lord of Abraham in return for taking on the responsibility to "Make Allah/God known to the World" and establishing the “laws of God” on the Earth.

Ishmael - first son - ISLAM
Issac - second son - JUDAISM & Christianity

JUDAISM is the covenant through Isaac.
ISLAM is the covenant through Ishmael.

The covenant was first given to the children of Isaac. Moses was their Great Law Giver and Jesus was their final Prophet.

Then lastly - the Covenant was given to the children of Ishmael and Prophet Mohammed was the Great Law Giver (Shariah) and the Final Abrahamic Prophet.

GOD gave the holy lands to the descendants of the first son of Abraham who got the Lions share of Inheritance.

often feel animosity towards Christian Fundies, their judgmental remarks and telling people they will go to hell etc, combined with a feeling of frustration that not one satisfactory answer has been given as to why you choose to believe the whole Christianity thing.

What is the basis of the animosity Fundemental christians often feel towards atheists?
This question is not really for the people who don't feel this animosity, I'm not trying to bait anyone, I'm just curious, for those who do post nasty remarks towards atheists, what is it about us atheists that make you dislike us so much.?

I saw a Christian based cartoon that shows Jesus at a door. He has a peaceful, loving smile. He has a machine gun at his side. The cartoon says "Worship Me, or Else."

Do you think this simple idea may be why Christianity is so popular? The fear that if you don't do exactly as God says, he hates you and sends you to Hell? That strikes a lot of fear into a person's heart, doesn't it? Can you be sure, as a Christian, that you love God for who He is and not what He might do to you if you disobey Him in any way? Are many people worshipping God just because they are terrified of Him?

Curious about your thoughts concerning the idea of this cartoon.

By the way---I am not an Atheist (though I respect them). I believe in God. I just don't think He/She/It is petty, jealous, or hateful.

And for further clarification, I do not mean this question to be mean-spirited. I try not to judge anyone's specific beliefs.

Thanks very much, for all thoughtful answers :)

Have you heard about this statement before, and what are your thoughts about it...?

From the famous book "Defending Al Imam Muhammad Al Ghazali - Page 114":

Imam Al Ghazali (Imam of the Sunna Imams in the whole world - God bless his soul):

"It was natural that each of us, after he knew the truth, go and run to his fellow.. I met Brother Al Imam Al Khumeeni at the hotel, I leaded Al Zuhr prayer while Al Khumeeni is praying behind me, He leaded Al Asr prayer while I prayed behind him.. The only difference was is that he preferred to put a tissue under his forehead while kneeling; as brothers of shia prefer to pray on something belonging to the earth.. Brother Al Khumeeni considered the tissue to be so, we both realized that the hatred between the Sunna and Shia is a devil-made matter that should be ended.."
"As I said goodbye to Al Khumeeni, I realized I'm saying goodbye to a real brother... ".

The MOST famous name for God in the OT is called the Sacred Tetragrammaton –It is YHWH.

Yahweh was changed into Jehovah by Christians -- Mark 12:29

Harpers Bible Dictionary says that the name JEHOVAH was "the result of the translators' ignorance of the Hebrew language and customs" (1985 edition , p. 1036)

Jehovah is a mistaken name of YHWH.

The Book "World Religions From Ancient History to the Present" says : "The name Jehovah is a medieval misreading and does not occur in the Hebrew Bible" (edited by Geoffrey Parrinder, p. 386)

The Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible says the name Jehovah is "an artificial name" (vol. 2, p.817)

Asimovs Guide to the Bible says that the name Jehovah "arose by mistake" (vol 1, p. 135). The author further says : "This mistake has persisted and will probably continue to persist" (p.135)

"When it came to God's name instead of putting the proper vowel signs around it, in most cases they put other vowel signs to remind the reader that he should say "Adonai". From this came the spelling Lehouah, and eventually Jehovah ...(pg. 8 ,Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, 1984)

"The truth is , nobody knows for sure how the name of God was originally pronounced". -(page 7- Watchtower Bible and Tract Soceity, 1984.)

The name Yahweh is derived from the statement God made to Moses in Exodus 3:14. Moses asked God as to what his name was and he got the reply -- "ehyeh esher ehyeh" .

The editors of the NEW JERUSALEM BIBLE explain this as : "The Hebrew can be translated literally 'I am what I am' , which would mean that GOD did not wish to reveal his name to them" (p. 85)

"The truth is , nobody knows for sure how the name of God was pronounced" (Pg. 7 - Watchtower Bible and Tract Society)

And I'm really nervous about it! I want to wear it to be modest and obedient before God, no one is forcing me to do it, and I'm sure that the vast majority of my fellow parishioners don't care what I put on my head, but I still need a pep talk because I'm totally nervous about this!

So my question is: Can you guys help me stop being so nervous?

I posed this question before, and I'm asking it again.

If there was one absolute truth or event that could prove to you that God exists (yes, this is a hypothetical situation and I know it probably doesn't currently exist), what would it be?

Examples:
- He would have to show himself to you physically
- give you everything you've ever wanted
- stop world hunger and violence
- tell you the meaning of life.

I'm honestly and Sincerely curious. I won't argue anything.

I say no, we are not equally fundamentalist. An atheist or scientist however passionately he may “believe”, in evolution for example, knows exactly what would change his mind: evidence! The fundamentalist knows that nothing will.
Your thoughts?

I was an atheist that got saved and it seems to me it takes a very open mind to even consider the supernatural much less to actually want to study and learn about it.
Isn't the refusal to study the word of God more closed minded and therefore of very little value.
I'm not asking a hate question, nor do I need hateful answers. Please be concise and think about your answers.

or follow the bible if there was no chance of going to heaven or hell? If there was no reward or heaven in the bible, would you still follow the bible and worship jesus? If so, why? You get nothing out of it, what would be the point. Lets say, just for arguments sake, don't start quoting the bible, it is just for arguments sake, that in the bible it says that everyone goes to the same place when they die. And this "underworld" is the same for everyone, no punishment or rewards, it is just a destination. Would this affect the way you worship or practice your religion? And this can go for any religion, Muslim, Jews, or Christian.

Jews and Muslims have no problems with Christians worshipping their own 3 in 1 God........ but if they try to say the Lord of Abraham is a Trinity then Jews and Muslims will always rise up to defend the Truth.
