I was an atheist that got saved and it seems to me it takes a very open mind to even consider the supernatural much less to actually want to study and learn about it.
Isn't the refusal to study the word of God more closed minded and therefore of very little value.
I'm not asking a hate question, nor do I need hateful answers. Please be concise and think about your answers.

atheists often believe that their worldview is based on "dry scientific facts" and so they say that faith is silly because it cannot be proved by laboratory experiments that's why they consider faith (incl. faith in God) as a phenomenon of primitive cultures. the representatives of primitive cultures are considered to be narrow-minded that's why atheists say that christians are people of this sort.

And what is left for us (christians)? Arguing won't help! We just have to accept and respect their point of view and show (through our life and behaviour) that they are wrong.

Now, why would an atheist be interested in 'the word of God'? Perhaps, you should have spent a bit more time thinking about your question?

I think the real issue is that Christians belive in christianty strongly, there fore are biased & sometimes unable at accept others ideas. Atheist however belive in many thing & always consider accepting a broarder range of beliefs. Allways remember the possibility that you may be wrong, as I may be here. Unfortunately I find it hard to support an organization that has committed sins against children, so I do not think these people should be influential in democracy.

I am a christian but I do believe that not all christian ideas handed down by the old are applicable to us in these times such as some of the brutalities of old times brought to pass by pretentious people. I do believe that Christ was right and just and he did indeed show us the right way of living. It's the people who abuse the power of the word and try to gain from it. Because of these silly mistakes by the not-so-truly-faithful people, atheists as well as other groups of people tend to think of us as close-minded. But I would also like to add that atleast we have come a long way out of the dark ages and have learned to tolerate others! I'm proud of it!

I studied the word of a man made god and for the most part found it wanting. There are,of course, many things in the bible that have very admirable qualities but, none that haven't been said before or are just common sense.I really don't need a manufactured god to tell me not to have sex with my sister or not to murder or steal. These things are wrong in places that had never heard of christianity .If you need a crutch that will help you through your life then, fine go for it.I respect your decision to believe.

Well, let me see: To me, being close minded means to accept something because you want to believe it, without actually evaluating other points of view to see if they hold up to scrutiny.

I do not fit this point of view. I am open minded enough to examine every point of view and to see. I just find the supernatural devoid of evidence.

I have met some Christians who are tolerant, but many oppose innocuous things such as birth control, condom use, organ transplantation, and the Harry Potter books on account that their particular deity would not approve. I have evaluated those extreme points of view and find them to be utter nonsense and sometimes harmful.

Being open minded does not mean giving each point of view equal credibility or being a complete relativist , it means having the openness to examine each one for potential value. The closest thing that comes toward this openness is the scientific method.

Christians like to cite the bible because of the fact they have not any data to pass on of their teachings which will stand the try of time. specific, they're people who in fact are closed minded to others & their understanding of issues. apparently sufficient, this additionally makes them judgemental. i thought via their own teachings that basically God might desire to choose? Hmm! Their historic previous additionally has a bad habit of making use of violence in the previous against all and sundry who does not adhere to their techniques. Google it. plenty for a tolerant faith of affection. Jesus Christ may be ashamed via the way his church became out. not what he was hoping for.

It takes a closed mind to believe that humans are incapable of morality without being given orders by God.

Accepting bribes or being coerced by God is not morality. It shouldn't take the reward of heaven or the punishment of hell to convince you to behave in life.

The desire for heaven is greed. If God does exist, surely he is capable of seeing through your actions to the selfish greed that motivates them.

Morality is only displayed when people believe that no one is watching them and judging them on their actions. The only way someone who believes in God can ever behave morally is if they ignore him and base their decisions on how other people will be affected.

In the end, whether or not God exists, it has no effect on how you should live your life.

They think that we believe in a fairy tale and we are simple, and that we are the stupid ones, They believe that nothing happens to you after you die..where is the purpose in that? Oh and the war thing, they always blame war on religion and not the men that caused those wars. I'm really tired of this stupid debate why do Atheist come to the religion and spirituality section anyway, they don't have religion and they don't believe in a spirit..so what the hell..they say we bash them, but why are they even in this section...but only to start trouble.

come now, how open minded are you about the idea that the bible is the word of god? if you were REALLY open minded you would also believe that the quran is the word of allah and the rig veda is the word of brahman and 'the god delusion' is the word of the Soul of Man.
