And I'm really nervous about it! I want to wear it to be modest and obedient before God, no one is forcing me to do it, and I'm sure that the vast majority of my fellow parishioners don't care what I put on my head, but I still need a pep talk because I'm totally nervous about this!

So my question is: Can you guys help me stop being so nervous?

Hi, I think you are showing humility by doing this, but you have to realize that it should not matter what others think of you as you owe nothing to them in terms of obedience, the wearing of a head covering is not obligatory anymore but what a lovely gesture before the Lord Whom we know is truly present in the Tabernacle and during the Consecration/Eucharist at Mass.
I say well done Sister, and may more follow your example of loving devotion to Christ at Mass.

God bless you.

i'm a woman that covers herself up from head to toe and the only distinction between me and a non is the face veil and extra freedom than the non. i'm allowed to stroll exterior and be married and characteristic intercourse to submit to infants. The non is in my eyes the single that is oppressed, yet no person understand that. I positioned on the faceveil by using fact it quite is a order to all believing women human beings. whether you disagree with this certainty, we've a suitable functionality fashions interior the different halves of the Prophet (sall Allaahu alaihi wa sallam) and the the shahabaa. in recent times i see extra women human beings in Afghanistan coming agianst the burqa and donning some thing what they desire. i needed that my father replaced into sturdy in telling me what's sturdy and incorrect and follow it. Believing on my own isn't adequate to be acknowledged as a real Believer. you probably can be acknowledged as a individual that would not have self belief. a woman that believes and (in accordance on your theory) is been made to positioned on a burqa or a niqaab is in my eyes a muslim that obeys her father or husband no longer obeys her innerself (nafs) and that i make dua for her that she would have the capacity to be rewarded for that. considering the fact that she makes of course the choice to conceal as a replace of turning out to be fitnah of herself. what's in her heart basically Allaah is conscious. And that would desire to no longer be our enterprise. If she would not desire to positioned on it and he or she has the order, than Allaah will teach her a vogue out of it, considering the fact that Allaah would not desire her obligations that at the instant are not in step with faith. concern of Allaah is interior the middle and can be acknowledged in the process the palms and ft and mouth (i.e. no longer giving haraam (riba' (interest), zina') or accepting any haraam And Hijaab in finished masking is likely considered one of the a thank you to declare look i do no longer settle for zina', and that i do no longer desire it. whether it quite is zina' of the attention or zina' of the palms or zina' of the area between the legs.

I am old enough to remember when half the older ladies at my church used to wear mantillas, usually triangles of black fabric edged in lace to cover their hair, whilst in church. It was supposed that men would be so distracted by the beautiful locks that they would not give proper devotion to God. And it was a left over from their village churches in other countries. I thought it looked pretty, and wondered why we didn't all do it.
The only time I wore a head covering in Church was for my First Communion (Eucharist), and I still have that veil today.
If you are doing it as a form of modesty, and are happy with that, I see no reason why you cant.

Recently i saw some american catholics wear the same thing. Its all new to me but i guess it must be ok or else the priest would have given out about it.

Do you know at one point the Catholic Churches in the United States had stuck with tradition and would not allow women to pray without a headcovering. The Girls in Catholic School would be sent home or introuble if they did not have their headcovers.. They would be forced to place tissue over their heads. Your doing this for God not man so don't worry and you will be rewarded.

I remembered wearing them for a long time. ..oh so long ago! ....blame it on the parents.

TIP - If your hair is short, wear one that just covers the top of your hair and pin it neatly on the sides. If you have long hair, choose the one that is triangular. But don't wear it like a scarf, let it hang on your shoulders. Black is a nice color, goes with everthing. But if you want them to notice you, wear white.

Just think about the Millions of Muslim woman who wear a scarf (of their own free will) every day. Especially those in the west... I commend them for not budging in their religion. All praise and glory is to Allah (God).

I have to wonder why God would care about your head covering any more than the vast majority of your fellow parishioners do.

Wouldn't God have more important things to worry about than what you wear on your head?

Despite what it says in the Bible, I seriously doubt that an almighty being would be that superficial.
