The Immaculate conception as it is called. A virgin is suddenly and mysteriously impregnated by god.

OK. First that is a bit hard to believe. A young yet to be married girl gets pregnant, in a time when stoning is the punishment for being a floosy. It isn't very unrealistic to think that a young girl would lie to keep from being brutaly murdered is it?

Upon further reflection, is this concept wrong and the indication of a bad god?

1) We are all god’s children - so god has committed the sin of incest.

2) Mary was a virgin and she was impregnated against her will. That is rape.

So, then god must be a child molesting rapist; could this be why there is so much of the same in the church. If god can do it so can his servants.

Am I wrong?

Evidence for Lilith is Isaiah 34:14, which in the NRSV reads, "there too Lilith shall repose." Most major translations of the Bible now read something to the effect of "night creature" or "screech owl."

Statistics show at least 20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage. That number is on the low side, as it does not take into account miscarriages that occur before the woman has found she was pregnant. If God is totally in control of what happens does that make him an abortionist?

My husband has an area in his mouth that is believed to be cancer, although we don't know for sure yet. I know the healing powers of the zam zam, so would it be permissible for him to drink it? Or would it be better if we waited until we know for sure that it is cancerous?

did he never step one someones toes? did he never fart in public? is everything to which one would say "oops! sorry about that!" a sin? and did Jesus do none of those things? would his mission on earth have failed if he stepped on somebody's toes and apologized? in fact, did he ever apologize for anything, or do you have to sin in order to have a reason to apologize?

Random question: What are the strictly observant's views on resuscitation? I have known people within the church who strongly believe in medical treatment, but I'm curious whether they believe in 'bringing people back from the dead' so to speak. And if not, where is the line drawn? Does this mean treatment for terminal illnesses is a problem?

As a Christian, I believe that their possibly was a Big Bang. When God spoke everything into exsistance, It doesn't tell us if it just appeared or if their was a big bang, so us christians can't jump to conclusions and say "their was no big bang". Their possibly was a big bang when God spoke. When God speaks things into exsistance, its doesn't always just appear out of thin air.

Ex. Adam was made from the dust of the earth, He didn't just appear, God made him and grafted him.

I am an agnostic who wants to know how many atheists or fellow agnostics let christianity get under there skin and why? There seems to be quite a few on this site. They seem to point out hypocracy, were human and all have flaws. They point out how it is being forced on them. I dont see it, granted it is predominate but 80% of people in this country claim to be christian so that does put us in the minority. With each generation we become more liberal as a society. Things you see now in public, movies and music you didnt see 50 years ago. So as for their influence I dont believe it is that strong. I have seen some of you on here rant about how they come knocking at my door, well so do Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, people come election time, school sales, charaties etc. If it offends you that bad and you are a true person of your principles just post a sign at you door " If your selling Jesus dont come a knocking"

There are those who accuse me of child molestation because I use a picture of my son and I as an avatar.

There are those who give these people their thumbs up.

There are those who have deleted my questions and those who have deleted my accounts.

There are those who call me idiot, hate filled, ego driven, malicious.

Those who have called me Satan.

Those who tell me god will get me for mocking him, for hating him, for doubting him, for calling him to account for his atrocities.

Seems to me there are more than a few christians who would be quite pleased if I was struck by lightning ... repeatedly.

Anyone honest enough to admit it?

I know it is said that God will not give us more than we can endure. When I look at my endurance vs those of other countries, I see my "problems" are nothing compared to theirs. Is there anyone who can say they've endured something comparable and still believe?

I mean, when you really think about what they have to endure, I can honestly say I dont know if I could still believe. My sun always comes back out, how is one that lives in constant darkness able to find the light?

Recent surveys show that about 16% of the US population has "none" or "other" as their religion. The percentage is even higher amoung the younger generation, 20 somethings. I also read a recent article about atheists "coming out of the closet."

At the same time, those young people who are christian seem to be much more fired up about religion that their parents.

What do these trends hold for the future? Will the US become heavily divided along religious lines?

They only seem to make sense, to me, but technically they don't really make a whole lot of sense. So are analogies tricking our mind, saying that it's a good point, but in reality, it isn't?

Example: Arguing over the internet is like running in the special olympics, Even if you win your still retarded!

Oh I'm sure if you won the real olympics, you would still be normal!!
