just wondering....I have been having some strange things happening at my house such as lights flickering in the hallway, the plug of my tub being in the drain and the water turned on without anyone doing it....I was in the kitchen doing dishes and my husband and daughter had been sleeping for a couple hours when I shut off the water in the kitchen I still heard water running so I went to the bathroom to find the rubber stopper in the drain and the water turned on...I got a little spooked. Then tonight laying in bed was about to go to sleep and as soon as I layed down the light in the hallway started flickering when i woke up my husband then it stopped?? my husband thinks I am crazy LOL but I am a firm believer in GOD and I dont know why this would be happening?

Should we make up our own HELL....Like PROD, for example. So when we run out of facts or proof, we can just say....You're going to PROD! Sound fun to me.

1) The word “Messiah” is an English rendering of the Hebrew word “Mashiach”, whose translation is “Anointed”. It usually refers to a person initiated into G-d’s service by being anointed with oil. (Having oil poured on his head. Cf. Exodus 29:7, I Kings 1:39, II Kings 9:3).

2) There are many Messiahs in the Bible. Since every King and High Priest was anointed with oil, each may be referred to as “an anointed one” (a Mashiach or a Messiah). For example: “G-d forbid that I [David] should stretch out my hand against the L-rd’s Messiah [Saul]...” I Samuel 26:11. Cf. II Samuel 23:1, Isaiah 45:1, Psalms 20:6.

3) The Hebrew word “HaMashiach” (lit. THE Messiah) describing a future anointed person to come does not appear anywhere in the Bible. Since the Bible makes no explicit reference to the Messiah, it is unlikely that it could be considered the most important concept in the Bible. Indeed, in Jewish thought, the Messianic idea is not the most crucial. However, in Christian thought, the Messiah is paramount- a difficulty in light of its conspicuous absence from scripture.

4) Islam calls Jesus “The Messiah” because he is the Last of the Israelite Prophets.

http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/k/koran/koran-idx?type=simple&q1=messiah&size=First%20+100

5) Islam also states that a False Messiah will be sent down as a final chastisement to the Jews who denied Jesus once God gathers them all into one small area.

What is our life supposed to be lived for?

2007-07-27 21:16:19 · 23 answers · asked by DorikinMon 1

Why is it that some people say they don't believe in God because they have no proof? Is there proof that he doesn't exist? And what exactly do you believe God to be? An old man with a grey beard sitting on the clouds? Why don't some people believe in anything the cannot see? Not everything is visible, and not everything can be held in your hand.
Do you see the love you feel for your kids? Do you see compassion? Do you see happiness and fulfillment? No you just feel it. And that 's enough proof that it exists. If God didn't exist why would we believe in Him? How the heck did we come up with that crazy idea that there's a God? To me God is all the beautiful feelings we have inside. Our intuition, our soul, the sun, the wind, our higher self...
Any oppinions? If it seems like I'm preaching, I'm not. I 'm just trying to see the logic behind atheism.

why is everything in there unoriginal? Everything I am about to mention comes before the start of christianity.

Mithras - called the Son of God and the Light of the World - was born on December 25, died was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days later. December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus. The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Romulus is described as the Son of God, born of a virgin.

Pictograms of Isis nursing her miraculously conceived son Horus became the image of our images of the Virgin Mary nursing Baby Jesus.

Really all of the bible is ancient pagan religions re-written and the names changed. There is nothing original about it. And remember, all of these happened before this guy jesus was supposedly on earth.

Pope: Creation vs. evolution clas an 'absurdity'
Benedict XVI also says humans must listen to ‘the voice of the Earth’
MSNBC News Services
Updated: 1:55 p.m. CT July 25, 2007

“They are presented as alternatives that exclude each other,” the pope said. “This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”

He said evolution did not answer all the questions: “Above all it does not answer the great philosophical question, ‘Where does everything come from?’”

Well, I dont really believe the world can end unless we or something else destroys the atmosphere. Which of course is possible on the extreme side. But mostly it would just be a big reduction in population. But which do you think will cause WW3

A saviour dying for our sins is FOREIGN to the Abrahamic message.

However, it is exactly the same concept found in the Greek pagan religions that worshipped Mithra the SUN God (who was born on December 25th)

I find its weird they think our laws are based on the ten commandments. The first four are about worshipping a specific god, would be unconstitutional if they were law. We have no laws against not honoring parents or coveting thy neighbors stuff, or even adultery. We have laws against stealing and murder but then so did the societies before the 10 commandments so no great insight there.

"The issue of "consciousness"—what it is, how to define it, how to quantify and measure it in humans and other animals, and ultimately, how to find the activity in the brain that corresponds to it—has received more attention in recent years. The topic is highly controversial, and currently, there's no consensus among neuroscientists even on such basic things as what the definition should be (for example, does consciousness involve self-awareness, the ability to imagine the future, both, or neither?), let alone whether the few studies that exist have successfully shown a neural correlate of consciousness. It's also important to note that many neuroscientists don't think the topic is a valid one for neuroscience, that is, that "consciousness" is not a quantifiable, clearly defined entity that scientists can measure, but instead is a poorly defined concept used in other fields and areas, such that "consciousness" doesn't necessarily correspond to a particular neural function."

Forcing children to practice a religion they have no interest in is a form of child abuse? You are forcing things into their minds when you have no real proof if it is even real.

After a lot of time spent on the religion area of yahoo answers, I have noticed several people really just trying to prove to people, with facts, and well thought out posts, that Christianity is very flawed and more or less a joke.

My question to you is, WHY do you spend much of your day on here disproving the beliefs of others? I;m sure you consider yourself moral, but is it moral to come on these boards solely for the purpose of harming others? (if only mentally/spiritually)

Personally, I am not Christian, or any other religion that I know the name/beliefs of. I think their might be a god, (tho odds are probably slim) and im not feeling the whole afterlife thing. Also, pure evil is a joke.

Religions are corrupted and used to manipulate people, but if it makes someone happy, and it helps them to be a better person , is that REALLY bad thing?

It makes the purpose of this life (which is a test) useless.

Satans greatest goal is to make mankind break the laws of God.

What better deception than to make people think they dont need to follow them anymore !!
