What is our life supposed to be lived for?

2007-07-27 21:16:19 · 23 answers · asked by DorikinMon 1 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

I see life(earthly) as God's Game. I think God gives us life and puts us in certain circumstances to test our faith. I think we are experiments God has with us. He gives us free will to do what ever we choose to....right? He lets us make our own decisions, he also lets us have a mind and conscience. He also puts us through test and obstacles to see how many of us turn to him. Earth is the board game and God Plays. To win this game you have to have a "Strategy" (as with all other games) to win on Earth. Good gives us certain laws and regulations to live by and if you obey you really win the game and enter Heaven. I also think the universe might be connected with God and Heaven because all that was here before Earth. If you've ever gazed into the night sky do you realize whats out there, or look around you and see the things that cant possibly appear by themselves and it sure is not have anything thing do do with that science bullshit.....There is An Almighty Creator. We're all in a Game

Your purpose in life is what you choose to make of it. You're dealt a hand . . . how you chose to play it is up to YOU.

I think Rush (the band, not the pompous druggie on AM radio) said it best . . .

Well, you can stake that claim --
Good work is the key to good fortune
Winners take that praise
Losers seldom take that blame
If they don't take that game
And sometimes the winner takes nothing
We draw our own designs
But fortune has to make that frame

We go out in the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That's the way that lady luck dances
Roll the bones

Why are we here?
Because we're here!
Roll the bones
Why does it happen?
Because it happens!
Roll the bones

Faith is cold as ice --
Why are little ones born only to suffer
For the want of immunity
Or a bowl of rice?
Well, who would hold a price
On the heads of the innocent children
If there's some immortal power
To control the dice?

We come into the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That's the way that lady luck dances
Roll the bones

Jack -- relax.
Get busy with the facts.
No zodiacs or almanacs,
No maniacs in polyester slacks.
Just the facts.
Gonna kick some gluteus max.
It's a parallax -- you dig?
You move around
The small gets big. It's a rig.
It's action -- reaction --
Random interaction.
So who's afraid
Of a little abstraction?
Can't get no satisfaction
From the facts?
You better run, homeboy --
A fact's a fact
From Nome to Rome, boy.

What's the deal? spin the wheel.
If the dice are hot -- take a shot.
Play your cards. show us what you got --
What you're holding.
If the cards are cold,
Don't go folding.
Lady luck is golden;
She favors the bold. That's cold.
Stop throwing stones --
The night has a thousand saxophones.
So get out there and rock,
And roll the bones.
Get busy!

Some problems with the game analogy..

God is omniscient; He knows the end from the beginning, there's no point in games for Him. Your existence is not for His entertainment, it's for your instruction. He knows how your game ends, it's you who need to learn about yourself.

The game is far more real than you appear to understand, and the consequences to you are potentially horrible or glorious.

As far as strategy goes, you qualified yourself to come here; you did alot of things the right way, prior to your being born. (The Bible does a lousy job of clueing you in to this except for a few obscure verses, like Jer.1:5, for instance.) You have already shown great promise. Your job is to come here, away from Father's presence, with no memory of your prior life, and see for yourself if you would seek God's will, be obedient as the gospel was revealed to you; or, conversely, you would show your disobedience and lack of humility by rebellion...

In simple terms- will you live selfishly or selflessly?

Well, the trogs around here have short attention spans, so that will have to do for now.
( Of course, there is much more to tell.)

Grins :)

Every single person on this Earth has a unique person. Pray hard on this subject, and the Lord will start to reveal clues, baby steps, to what yours is. You will know when you're on the right track by the immense, immeasurable sense of peace you feel, which is a gift on it's own.

God created humans OUT OF LOVE.

Let's read it from the bible.

1 John 4:8

"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."

1 John 4:19

"We love Him because He first loved us."

Ephesians 1:5-6

"having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. "

Now, what's the purpose of life? What should you be doing?

Let's read from the bible again, in Ephesians 2:10

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

Christians are created for GOOD WORKS.

It's the duty of man to obey God's commandments.

Ecclesiastes 12:13

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:

Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all. "

I think, for myself it is to be a good child and obey my parents, which I did. Now is the time to either go on to College, or (maybe join the Air Force to serve my country).

In the meantime, if I meet a man who I fall in love with, and who loves me, get married, start a family and make a good home for him and my children.

Those who choose to live their lives according to God's principles & purpose for them, will not only be the happiest possible, they will bring themselves in line to receive & share their blessings eternally, while at the same time bringing glory to their Creator. That is what true success really is.

A creation that has choice (Jinn) and obey God are better than a creation that has no choice (Angels) and obey God.

Azazeel (Jinn) became leader of the Angels due to his obediance.

Jinns are made of Fire and Angels are made of Light. It is impossible for Angels to ever disobey the Lord.

Then God created Adam (Man) from the clay of the earth, blew his spirit into him and then commanded everyone to bow down to him.

All in the heavens (All the Angels) bowed down in obediance except for their Leader (The Jinn named Azazeel).

When asked, Azazeel (the Jinn) said he was better than Adam because He was made of FIRE and Adam was made of CLAY.

God cursed Azazeel for his disobediance and renamed him Shaitan (Satan) Ar-rajeem (the accursed one).

Shaitan (Satan) requested God to give him life until the day of Judgement and then swore he would take all of mankind into hellfire with him out of REVENGE.

God told Satan that all those who would obey him over the obediance to God and the divine laws - would join him (Satan) in the Hellfire and all those who would obey the Prophets (who would be sent down) and follow the Divine laws that they would bring would be entered successfully into the Paradise by the MERCY of God after the Day of Judgement.

1) Believe in One God, who has no partners and obey the divine Laws.

2) Follow the example of the final Prophet who was the perfect example for all of mankind of the divine laws put into practice.

interesting but the moment someone decides to follow Jesus they "win" The first rule is to accept jesus as savior (get out of jail free card I guess) and even if you break a thousand rules for the rest of the game (life) you still win at the end.

Ecclesiastes 12:13,14; ... 'The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.'
