Very true! However it is really not asking Jesus to forgive you that saves you, it is confessing Him as Lord.
Rom 10:9 "...that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

Cindy you are a young Christian and trying to help the trolls on yahoo answers is a job for the old Christians and for the most part we don't care to. Actually our only interest here is to help the ones who are truly seeking the Loving Help of God and protect our young.
Perhaps you have noticed even the answers from some "believers" is a bit harsh.
God has blessed you. Remember Matthew 7:6
That for the few trolls among you who can actually read.

The Lord of Abraham has no son.
Congrats on whatever other god you worship.
‘Christ according to the faith, is the second person in the Trinity, the Father being the first and the holy Ghost the third. Each of these three persons is God. Christ is his own father and his own son. The Holy Ghost is neither father nor son, but both. The son was begotten by the father, but existed before he was begotten--just the same before as after. Christ is just as old as his father, and the father is just as young as his son. The Holy Ghost proceeded from the Father and Son, but was an equal to the Father and Son before he proceeded, that is to say before he existed, but he is of the same age as the other two. Nothing ever was, nothing ever can be more perfectly idiotic and absurd than the dogma of the Trinity.’
- Col. Robert G. Ingersoll

Did you know that this doctrine was made up many years after Jesus (peace be upon him) was no longer on the Earth? Nor did Jesus, even once, openly say I am the son of God and will be sacrificed for the sins of humanity. Jesus (peace be upon him) was a Noble Messenger of Allah (God) nothing more or less. All praise and glory is to Allah (God) alone!

Dear sister, If God is the lord (surely so), he does not need to give anyone to forgive others, He is omnipotent and the most mercifull , Therefore He forgives everbody who asks forgiveness. All the best :)

There is no such thing as god. Jesus was not his son. When you learn that, you will be all the better. Stop wasting your precious time on this earth believing and following in something that does not exist. Poor child.

I've heard about it, but I don't believe it.
I don't believe it because it's agaisnt the traits of God. God is supposed to be all-loving and all-powerful.
