Recent surveys show that about 16% of the US population has "none" or "other" as their religion. The percentage is even higher amoung the younger generation, 20 somethings. I also read a recent article about atheists "coming out of the closet."

At the same time, those young people who are christian seem to be much more fired up about religion that their parents.

What do these trends hold for the future? Will the US become heavily divided along religious lines?

Yes it's true. More and more Atheists are coming out of the closet. I did it about 4 years ago. It was hard because I was raised a Catholic and went to Catholic school for most of my younger years. My mother went ballistic when she found out.

My personal opinion and observation is, the future does not belong to religion.

Yes - but only in the short term. The Secular birth rate is much much smaller then their Christian counterpart. This is one reason that the media is always found wanting in predicting the demise of Christianity. The Egyptian Pharaoh understood this and this is why they sought to kill the babies of Israel (Exodus 1:15-16).

It's scary to know that more & more people are turning away from the Lord and turning to their own beliefs......

The Lord will be back sooner than we think....this world is quickly going down the toilet

totally. im 16 and like some people are so slack and like just dont give a shiit in life. especially with like this emo movement and all... its totally grunge all over againg. deja vu bitches!!

but like im a christian and i like have been overseas like working as a missionary and all the christians ive met are like so inspired and you know like they want to like be out there changing the world like fighting poverty and like animal activism and stuff. its like all these people are like motivated but then like the emos and people that dont do church are like the total slackers and they just like you know like dont even bother anymore.

and they think that religious people are like aliens and shiit but were not you know were just like USUAL. and like i am so open minded i have like beautiful buddhist friends and gay friends and though i dont agree i like accept.

now like people like when i say im christian theyre like NO not a christian and im like why? and theyre like oh they psychopaths..... so yeah like people hate us man

so theres like a big division you know cause like i just dont even like talk to those people. yeahhh. its like so not my scene man but like i wish we could all just be like one

you know? like i dunno this took me ages to write it like doesnt make any sense darn . oh well whatever. i didnt even answer your freaking question. hahahahahahaha
