I think that you just fade away. I do not think there is a heaven or hell only because their is no proof that such a place exists.
But, in the end as far as I know people that claim to know the truth about something they can have no idea of are liars and not to be trusted.

So really this question is unanswerable because no one dead has ever come back to tell us what happens once we die. I look at death like it is the final frontier, the last great mystery in a humans life. While I do not want to speed up the process I certainly do not fear something that is totally out of my control such as death.

This is all based on faith and personal beliefs. I believe that we have a soul and when we die our soul either moves on to a higher state of being or we get reincarnated and return to earth in a physical form. It's crazy because I never read anything on this and I was brought up catholic. I do believe in a higher power that supervises the whole process. I just don't want to believe once we're dead, we're dead. There's just something too final and sad about that. I guess we'll all know the truth once we get there.

At death you simply go to the grave. You sleep and remain there totally lifeless. The dead no absolutely nothing. No immortal soul roaming about the earth. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6.

When Christ returns their will be a resurrection. At that time Christ will awaken those who died in Christ and they will be taken to heaven. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-16.

I hope this helps to clear any mis-understanding about death.

The story of the Rich man and Lazarus pretty much sums it up.
Luk 16:19 "There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.
Luk 16:20 And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
Luk 16:21 who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luk 16:22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried,
Luk 16:23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
Luk 16:24 And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.'
Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.
Luk 16:26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.'
Luk 16:27 And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house--
Luk 16:28 for I have five brothers--so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.'
Luk 16:29 But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.'
Luk 16:30 And he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'
Luk 16:31 He said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.'"

My soul/spirit goes to be with the Lord. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Also, on Daystar or internet http://www.perrystone.org . Or http://www.sidroth.org . Or http://us.god.tv/ Has answers to these questions sometimes when they interview someone who has these types of out of body experiences.
Another testimony is http://www.90minutesinheaven.com .

People should realize that before being born of God through faith in Christ. We are a body, soul & sleeping/dead spirit. The sleeping or dead spirit could be persons conscience that is God given at birth. Every child brought forth into this world has seen the True light. 1John. Jesus said that to see the Kingdom of Heave, you must be born again. That the first person born of water is flesh. That the second person is born spiritually. So? when one is born of God, born of His Spirit, cleansed by His blood, through faith in His Atonement & Resurrection. Then person is born spiritually, made whole; body, soul & spirit. That is why born again Christians say. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. See? The body dies. The wages of sin is death. Our body is still corruptible. So, the body goes into the grave & decays. As a Christian, we go to be with the Lord & when Jesus comes back at time of rapture, the heavenly Saints come with Him & are resurrected like Christ was resurrected; whole; everlasting body, soul & spirit. Never to die again. Where we say, "Death where is your sting?...". Then the rest of the live Saints on earth are also caught up & metomorphed into everlasting body, soul & spirit.

See the corruptible body will die & turn to dust. If a person isn't born of God spiritually, the soul goes to where God puts the soul until the Great White Throne Judgment.

Infinite Time
A given is the Concept of infinity
Surely you remember what you were
Before your present life
If not YOU ARE LIKE MOST PEOPLE
energy is not destroyed in death
it takes yet another form. To be cast
into the infinite and re used.
We usually do not remember past experience
as our energy (soul) combines with other
energy to create yet another form.

enjoy that which is given
Expect Nothing and you will not be disapointed

Works for me!

You decompose. Nothing else could possibly happen to you. Spirits and souls don't exist, nor does heaven or the aspect of reincarnation.

You rot in the ground.

Its called Life and Death for a reason.
Not Life and Death and Life.

Althought no one has died for more then a few seconds so one can honestly tell you.
