The artist said: "The purpose of editing and burning Abrahamic Holy Books is to eliminate homophobic hate," Merrill stated. "Both ancient books are terrorist manuals."

"Airplanes are flown into buildings because of words, and hate crimes against gays," Merrill said.

Do you think the artist was making a valid point.

Well, I was told before that people get angry to anything hits their ego.

It may have something to do that hit his ego.
Either his ex wife, (because those Qur'an was actually hers as it was given to her), belittled him, or
He was angry looking at himself yet he cant fight it.
or both.

He's got the money, but he doesn't have everything and may lack of something which is actually he knows it's important for him

He cant buy the things he missed, with all his money ++++, so he attacks
It's not gonna change anything in him anyway and $60,000 is peanut ; the Bibles and Qur'an printed every day in millions anyway. There are no such called rare Qur'an. The script is just the same.

As a collection item it's nice, that's all. I cant understand why an artist cant value it as a rare item, instead of as something to do w terorist, which by burning it he will gain nothing.

Is that means, he is stupid? Very likely, but who cares???
That's my answer.

Worthless posturing by the artist. If it made him feel better, whatever. Nothing is sacred. But I think that's somewhat idiotic when he could've just sold the damn thing for a nice chunk of $$$. He in no way influenced the spread of Islam (or terrorism or homophobia). In fact, given the behavior of many Muslims, doing such a thing is more likely to make problems worse.
