I am a junior in college, and have a question regarding an argument/research paper i need to write. My topic is: Should mandatory and/or voluntary prayer be permitted in public schools? My possible thesis statement is: Private voluntary prayer should be allowed in public schools.

WHAT are some points/arguments I could make in the paper about this topic? One I have so far is common misconceptions about school prayer, and I was going to talk about the legal aspect of it too. I need quite a few things to talk about because this paper needs to be at least 8 pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yet believing in the existance of the opposite (god) all-loving creature... is so difficult for me.

I know I've felt evil presences.... but don't know that I've ever felt god.
I'd like to think... to believe in one... would then prove the other......but it's not the way it is with me...

...just wondering... any thoughts?

Ah, we hear that homosexuality is an abomination from far too many of you. Yet when we quote
something from the Old Testament we are told that we should pay attention to the new one. If we then say, "hey, that's pretty circular, man, you just quoted from the O.T. about one abomination", it's "Well, that one was important because it was an abomination." Whew! And the wheels go 'round 'n 'round.

Do you know the other abominations?

1. EATING SHRIMP: Leviticus 11:9-11
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

For me, the book of Job has always been a mysterious story. What is God trying to tell us through the story of Job. I guess its that if we always have faith, that ultimately God will be there for us. Job was diseased, tortured, he lost everything, and he still kept his faith. I guess the story also tells us that no matter what happens on Earth, God is in charge and can do anything.

And then there's Revelations: that story is just full of mysterious and strange things.

What books and stories in the Bible confound you the most?

The New Testament was obviously not originally written in English, but Greek, so what was the original statement, and what would the literal meaning be? The same as, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." ?

This might seem silly to ask, but can anyone out there pray that this open house that I am having tomorrow goes well? If my house doesn't sell this month, I will lose the other house that I have already put a lot money in. So if anyone could pray that we can find a buyer really soon, I would very much appreciate it!

What? Evolution seems much more likely than God did it. How stupid is that, God cannot be a good enough answer. We also know about asteroids and comets, that could destroy the human race. What, if one day God doesn't like us, he can just make us all die, just like poof?! That makes no sense at all! I need proof otherwise. We also have dinosaur bones. Or are those fake too, and made in a secret factory?! Oh my fake God!

Hello. My name is Jesus, and I am God. I am the all-powerful creator of the universe. I created everything that you see before you -- the galaxies and stars in the heavens; the oceans, the mountains and the plains of earth; the sun and the moon and the skies; along with every living thing on the planet. I created you personally, and I gave you your unique soul. I created everything!

Everything of value on earth I created. I buried thousands of tons of gold in mines around the planet. I placed billions of gallons of oil under the sands in the Middle East. I created the millions of carets of diamonds being mined in South Africa.

Now, there is just one thing I need in return. I need your money. I need lots of your money. The Bible specifies that you send me ten percent of your gross income, but think of that as a starting point. Feel free to give more! When they pass the offering plate at church, be sure to give generously!

LoL I can only imagine the justifications here...

I was amazed to find how many have confessed to me, that they never really read this book, that they have built their life arround.

Or is it 6,000 years as the Bible says? Or could both be right? Could the universe be both 16 billion years old and 6,000 years old at the same time? Time is not only affected by gravity and volocity, but time could be percieved differently from different points. Think of the universe as expanding. Going back 6,000 years ago, the universe would have been smaller. The Bible looks at Creation from the beginning, looking forward. Scientists today look at the universe looking backwards. As the universe expanded, time would have been stretched out, taking a longer time to go from point A to point B on an expanded universe than it would have taken on a smaller universe. Also, the flow of time is different in different situations. For instance, time on the sun would pass by slower than time on earth because of the increased gravity on the sun.
Is it possible that both science and the Bible are right, and 16 billion years and 6,000 years are the same?

Last year my grandpa passed away, my parents considered hiring a monk to sing prayer because none of us knows sanskrit, the monk asked us for about 50 US dollars per day, 49 days in total...that was ridiculous, monks these days are so greedy, they only have eyes for money, eventually we gave up.
