Ah, we hear that homosexuality is an abomination from far too many of you. Yet when we quote
something from the Old Testament we are told that we should pay attention to the new one. If we then say, "hey, that's pretty circular, man, you just quoted from the O.T. about one abomination", it's "Well, that one was important because it was an abomination." Whew! And the wheels go 'round 'n 'round.

Do you know the other abominations?

1. EATING SHRIMP: Leviticus 11:9-11
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

2. HAVE YOU EVER TOLD A LIE? Proverbs 6:16-19
"There are six things which the LORD hates, seven which are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and a man who sows discord among brothers."

3. PRAYER CONDEMNING OTHERS: Prov. 17:15
"Prayer of disobedience, dishonesty, and justifying the wicked and condemning the just are an abomination."

3. SPEEDING, DRINKING & DRIVING, NOT USING THE CROSSWALK TO CROSS,NOT WEARING A SEATBELT, ORAL SEX IN GEORGIA: Proverbs 28: 9
"He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination."

4. UNSTEADINESS: Prov. 11:1
"A false balance is abomination to the Lord…"

Oh, Deuce, Deuce, Deuce - If the Book of Leviticus applied only to the Exodus and 'not us' then why are so many of your faith bigots against homosexuality? They're always quoting Lev. when it suits them... thence the haughty righteousness, the ignorance, the hatred, the wars and genocides...

Robert, dear - Wherever did I mention "unclean"? Oh, NOwhere! That's right. You'll notice that fins and scales are mentioned - shrimp have neither. THAT is what makes them abominations. No, in the NT, Jesus/God did NOT give shrimp fins and scales.

*InvizyGirl* - Your fellow Christians, who like to tell us all that O.T. is the framework for the N.T. would disagree with you. If what you say is true, then there's no way for them to condemn that which they cannot understand, like homosexuality. Why hate it if it's in the wrong book?

Why do I always get conflicting responses from Christians on this topic?

Two_Seven: I do not believe homosexuality is an abomination because I don't base my judgments on your fictional holy book stolen from the writings of Pagans. I never mentioned that here, though. Homosexuality IS an abomination according to the OT, as is not using the crosswalk, speeding, looking upon others haughtily (as you are right now), lying, eating shrimp, etc. Why in GOD'S NAME is it that you condemn the one you do not practice but act as if the others aren't "really" abominations. Don't you follow God's word? Y'know where you'll end up if you don't, son...

Build me an Ark and bring forth abominations of every kind by twos to repopulate the Earth, for the Earth will be destroyed by a flood of righteous mucousal secretions and it WILL be GOOD. Thus spake the abominational snowman and LO, it was so and it WAS good.

Yeah, I already know the abominations in Leviticus about the dietary laws. And you are exactly right how many would say homosexuality is an abomination even about the split hooves and so on. I have quoted that before. That's because many say that the "OT" no longer is for them, but they actually contradict themselves by saying that homosexuality is an abomination, which is called hypocrisy. Then you have to ask them, what about ALL the ten commandments, are they still valid?

As for me, all that you have mentioned is an abomination to G-d. So I don't do my own thing, we should do what G-d wants us to do. Because the OT is never old, it is still valid. Yeah, I understand where you are coming from.

Well, I personally think that if the Bible says it, New or Old testament, then we SHOULD follow it, regardless if Yeshua (Jesus) covered us or not. That is equal to saying, "Well, daddy's got the bail money, lets go kill some people"
There are laws and rules for everything that needs them. I don't think that we will know all the abominations without reading so I think we should all pick up our Books and read.
The laws are there for a reason, whether it be health, faith or salvation. We should follow them all. Didn't Jesus even say that not one jot or tittle ( the crosses on the "t" or the dots on the "i") would not be changed?
If it was bad in Noah's day, it is bad today.

The Mosaic Law given to Moses ended at the death of Jesus. Jesus now instituted a new Law Covenant with all that would follow him. The Mosaic Law still stood as prime examples, princibles, and insight as to why God gave all of the some 600 laws.

The new Law covenant was to preach the "Good News Of God's Comming "Kingdom. Acts 20:20 that is about to take over earths affairs Dan 2:44.

After Jesus death the food restrictions were lifted and you did not have to be a Jew in order to be accepted by God, Luke 16 :16.

Sincerely yours,

There are lots of them. Here are 7 more...

Proverbs 6:16-19 (KJV)
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

edit: preach on brother...you haven't gotten to pork or mixed fabrics yet!

edit2: I find it amazing when some talk about Acts chapter 10. They only read up to the part of Peter's vision that says God has made all food clean. They don't read the rest of the chapter which tells the meaning of Peter's vision. It had absolutely nothing to do with food. It was a vision to tell Peter to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the gentiles.

Those got cancelled out in the NT. ALL things are lawful unto me (Paul). The only aabomination I care about these days is the Abomination of Desolation, otherwise known as the Mosque of Omar, or the Dome of the Rock.

You have a point I guess. Yes I knew the dietary requirments of old testament christians because of that popular diet book! Never enjoyed shell fish anyway and now I don't have to eat it or pig for that matter! I think it is also an abomination if you practise sex before marriage - there are so many things.

That is why I am an Adventist. The only denomination in my long search that honors all 10 commandments and doesn't eat unclean foods! I dislike that circular thinking stuff. I posted a ? a few days ago asking a similar thing. No decent answers.

LOL. Thank you for that one. Where's the one about not touching the flesh of a pig (the one that would make football an abomination)? Those are my two favorites. They say homosexuality is an abomination, yet they don't complain about eating shrimp or playing football.

It's only an abomination if you eat "JUMBO SHRIMP." It says "Thou shall not engage in the eating of oxymoronic delicacies."
But really I thought this was Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo Statements, which is what you are really making.
So you believe homosexuality is not an abomination. God bless you. Have a nice life.
