Why do christian leaders interpret bible scripture to suit their needs at the time? For example, before the whole global warming issue took off, christian leaders would say the world is at God's mercy and then back it up with some bible verse. Now that the global warming issue is front and center, christian leaders say that the earth is a gift from God and we should take better care of it, followed by some other bible verse. How do the faithful expect the heathen hordes to take them seriously with such discrepancies? Is organized religion about saving the lost sheep, or is it about pandering and money?

I think so. Before this war mess started there were quite a few Christians living rather peacefully in Muslim countries.

Now of course there is a lot of anger because of the wars and oppression.

I have an idea for a new Christian animation (like Prince of Egypt). Disney should do it and call it "The Magic of Jesus". It starts with Mithraism, and goes through the ages showing the phony apostles like Paul being bigots and hypocrites, on to medieval priests raping pagan girls and mutilating pagan men to force them to accept Jesus and "Church Authority", and other foul practices like forcing sacraments down people’s throats against their will. Next show how as science progresses, “faith” becomes weakened, such as during the Age of Enlightenment. Then finally culminate to the 21st century to show how Christianity does not fare well in a free society with civil rights, where Christians cannot kill or rape people for rejecting their religion, and where the Scriptures are open to examination and scrutiny (and of course, this destroys the Bible), and found to be lacking. The end should have Jesus melting like the wicked witch from Oz: "I'm melting! I curse science! Ahhhh!" *poof*!

Why do atheists make jokes about the bible or about God and about Jesus, when atheists are supposedly against religion. They don't believe that God, Jesus, satan, heaven or hell exists, but make fun and jokes about it?

What do you think about Ghosts and exorcism cases? Well I sometimes don`t believe at all in ghosts or demons but when I was a kid (17 now) my family and I always heared noises in the walls almost every night and every day (with pauses for 2 - 3 sec like: bum.... bum.... bum.... etc) My mother gone to the neighbours and asked if they are doing something and they said they are not. My mother, grandmother, grandfather, aunt and I and some relatives heared this noises as well. My aunt always had nightmares (snakes - still now... but those are only dreams) as well we moved from the house - this was not the cause why we moved (something ugly has happend in my childhood but not this noises). I never thought they are ghosts but one night when my grandmother was sleeping she felt something was strangle her in the dream and woked coughing. As well my aunt screemed at nights still now... I have nightmares as well but more sophisticated... lol.

So do you believe in ghosts or exorcism cases?

This is not a whine, or a moan, it's a genuine question.

Why is there such a large percentage of people in the R&S section that take great pleasure in A) pointing out any spelling mistakes and B) being completely and totally ignorant to the question and just leaving responses like "I can't be bothered to think about answering this question".

Is it boredom? Intolerance (the great hypocracy of religion!?) or is it the summer holidays and all the pubescent teenagers are on here because it's raining?

Because that's what it seems to me. Humanity doesn't have an answer to so many questions, and maybe will never have it. why do we have to make up the answers right now? why do all of the questions have to be answered right now, and always with the same answer: "God"?

Ideas like the "big bang" etc they dismiss and give some drivle about the almightly. bare in mind that the people who wrote the bible were ignorant off most science, so wouldn't have been able to formulate theories about the big band, evolution etc.
So why now that we have a greater understanding can religion types not look to merge these ideas?
(sorry to the rational open people out there for any generalisations)

Words and mental impression really grasp the true Nature of existence. No mental representation or description or teaching can be the 'thing-in-itself'. So how can there be a 'last word' in anything.
How can being spiritual just be a matter of reaching for a book?

1)Complexity does not imply design.

2)Tho even there was Intelligent Design, that does not prove the existence of God.

Voltaire said:
"From this one argument, I cannot conclude anything more, except that it is probable that an intelligent and superior being has prepared and shaped matter with dexterity; I cannot conclude from this argument alone that this being has made the matter out of nothing or that he is infinite in any sense (i.e. that he is God)".

3)If everything has to have a designer, who designed God?

4)Incoherence. George H.Smith states in his book, Atheism: The Case Against God:
"to claim that nature as a whole was designed is to destroy the basis by which we differentiate between artifacts and natural objects. Evidences of design are those characteristics not found in nature, so it is impossible to produce evidence of design within the context of nature itself".

We see in Jesus compassion, unconditional love, HE did not say anything when HE was crucified... in Gautama Buddha...HIS aura was so loving that when ever enemies comes near HIM. they just forget about any enmity..HE also did not encourage war and fighting...

But whereas LORD KRISHNA and LORD RAM were both in favour of war and bloodshed...We can see in Mahabharat, ffull of bloodshed...Lord Krishna kept of murdering HIS enemies since HIS birth...and RAM also..
They could have apply compassion and unconditional love.
I am not able to understand why?

According to the Bible
Matthew 27:46 (King James Version)

"And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

The Bible also says in

John 10:30 (King James Version)

"I and my Father are one."

If Jesus is God why is he saying God has forsaken him? Does not seem very logical to me.

to tell u about the prophet muhammed's life?! from a muslim.

B4 his mission as a prophet, Muhammad had no financial worries. As a successful & reputed merchant, Muhammad drew a satisfactory & comfortable income. After his mission as a prophet and because of it, he became worse off materially. To clarify this more, let us browse the following sayings on his life:
*one of Muhammad’s companions, said, “The Prophet of God did not see bread made from fine flour from the time God sent him (as a prophet) until he died.”
*another one of Muhammad’s companions, said that when the Prophet died, he left neither money nor anything else except his white riding mule, his arms, and a piece of land which he left to charity.
Muhammad lived this hard life till he died although the Muslim treasury was at his disposal, the greater part of the Arabian Peninsula was Muslim before he died, and the Muslims were victorious after eighteen years of his mission................

"If you l love me, keep my commandments." How many Christians love their neighbor as their self? How many want to actually do His will for their lives or even care that they are not doing His will? How many are going on the mission fields and completely giving us family, nice homes, nice cars, good paying jobs, etc? What have you done lately that you can point to that would tell Him and others that you are serving HIM?
