Why do christian leaders interpret bible scripture to suit their needs at the time? For example, before the whole global warming issue took off, christian leaders would say the world is at God's mercy and then back it up with some bible verse. Now that the global warming issue is front and center, christian leaders say that the earth is a gift from God and we should take better care of it, followed by some other bible verse. How do the faithful expect the heathen hordes to take them seriously with such discrepancies? Is organized religion about saving the lost sheep, or is it about pandering and money?

Huh? Who said what you are claiming? It seems to me that you are making the whole thing up. Please show me what Christian leaders said what. And name your sources. Other than that, please stop lying about other people.

Then you accuse religion of being about "pandering and money." What nonprofit organization operates without money? Any organization designed to help people needs money to operate. If you want to talk about a particular case of a religious individual, a certain church, a certain ministry, etc that misused funds........then that is one thing.

But what you are doing is lying.

There is nothing strange about global warming.

Before the flood in Noah's day, there was an ice water canopy over our atmosphere (God separated the water beneath from the water above in Genesis 1). This caused the earth to have about twice the air pressure and oxygen levels we have today (taken from air sample in amber) and it kept out more harmful rays from the sun.

It collapsed during the flood. And as ice has a magnetic property at -300F, most of it collected around the magnetic poles (this is why the "ice age" was not centered around the axis poles but its magnetic poles).

Ever since than (about 4,500 years) it has been melting.
The smaller it gets, the faster it melts.
The smaller it gets, the less it can cool the average temperature of the earth.

And that is why we have global warming.
We will still have winters even when the caps completely melt, it will just take longer for the cold to move south, and therefore winters will also be shorter.

Because the bible is written in a way that you can make it say anything. Evidence is the 284,694 Christian denominations. I can make the Father & Son to be Batman & Robin if I try hard. Christians read the OT to find Jesus is the Messiah; Jews read the same books to find that he was the devil. Unfortunately that’s why it’s not going to go away so fast. Next, out of necessity, the Christians will find verses about evolution all over the place. I can post twenty right now.

You should consider the number of Christian denominations and their origin before starting even to form question like this. When a person, any person, takes a Bible and starts interpreting it to the degree their poor brain allows them to, and this person decides to become the leader of a church, it is obvious, that this person´s authority on Bible does not have any other reference but themselves. However, this is the case of only part of the Christians. Should you investigate more, you will find a Church whose teachings have remained the same since the time of the Apostles.

A Church is a God-man institution.Where man comes in, there is always a possibility of an error on his part. Church is not to be held accountable of all of its servants errors who, being still human, have not reached the flawless nature of God. We all strive to get closer to God. Now, if there are people who intentionally misinterpret faith to accommodate their own interests, may God take mercy on them and those they mislead so that tehy get back on to the right track.

I've found people to use scripture to justify just about anything. In the 1800's, it was used to justify slavery. It's been used to justify denying women the vote and equal rights, evangelicals in the south used the bible to justify segragation back in the 60's (there are even pictures of KKK meetings in chruches). Now they use it to justify bigitory against gays and lesbians.

I once heard a man say "even Satan can quote scripture"
