In history there have been peace contracts where the Muslims make a contract with non-Muslims to maintain peace for a period of time.

When Islam first started, Muslims were very few, and the non-Muslims were against the idea of Islam. So they were harming & killing Muslims to end this new religion once & for all. So Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked his followers to seek the help of King Najashi, who was the king of Habasha (which was an empire that covered most of Saudi Arabia & Yemen). When Muhammad's people asked him why? He said that King Najashi is a Christian King who is very fair to all people and always aids those in need. When they fled to Al Habash, the non-Muslims sent a messenger to Al Najashi asking him not to accept them. He heard both sides, while asking Muslims why he sould accept them, especially when the non-Milsim claimed that they say bad things about Jesus. When he asked them to tell him what they say about Jesus, they read him a verse of the Quraán which made him accept them immediately and indicated that Islam is very similar to Christianity.
Watch a movie called "The Message" starring Anthony Queen where this incident is included.

there was some peace contracts between Muslims and non-Muslims (Pagans, Christians, Jews)
in one of these pecae contractes it was mentioned that if a third party attacted to oneside of agreement other side have to aid to defence.
I read somewhere that there was such a contract between Muslims and Christians and after a while a Pagan tribe attacted Muslims and Christians came to aid Muslims based on their Agreement but prophet of Islam said at the moment there is no need for participation of Christians

Muhammad pbuh, prayed Allah swt, O Allah, if you want to strengthen Islam, give me any one out of two Omers (Omer Bin Khattab and Omer bin Abdulmutlib, both were Non-Muslims at that time).
Allah swt selected Omer Bin Khattab for His guidance and the other Omer, (omer Bin Abdulmutlib,Abu-Jahl), remained as Non-Muslim.
When Muhammad pbuh was disappointed by the Pagans of Makkah by their mistreatment and ignorance, he decide to go to another city, Taif, near Makkah, may be the people of Taif accept Islam and it may become the home of Muslims for the time being. But the people of Taif rejected him and injured him, so he had no place to go anywhere.
By the rules of Makkah, he was not able to settle back once he had left Makkah, so he got sponsorship of a Non-Muslim (sorry I don't remember the name), to live back in Makkah.
Muhammad pbuh, always seek help of Allah swt in all matters, But told us how to deal in difficult situations.

Misaq-e-Medina (Peace Treaty of Medina) is famous.
It was the earliest contract made by prophet Muhammad with non-muslim neighbours mostly Jews.
Read Islamic literature yourself don't rely on anti-Islamic lectures!
Peace & Blessing!

I was going to mention that Christian king as well, but someone already did :)
Here's a good site where you can research both Qur'an and Ahadeeth. All you have to do is type in a word and browse the results. I would search this topic myself now, but have no time.
I'm sure you'll find something about this in Ahadeeth :)
