Q. Is This Act a Crime Against Humanity ?
War is fought between soldiers - they are warriors trained and prepared for this reason - its like they have the license to kill or get killed by another soldier. - CIVILIZED WAR.
Geneva convention in early 20th cent - made many regulations about war and war crimes for everyone to follow despite who is on what side.
Innocent Civilians ( none-warriors or non-soldiers or non-politicians ) - eg: villagers , families , children's , and city tenants. _ everything and everyone be it GENEVA CONVENTION - protects this innocent community from violent of war.
In 1945 - USA dropped a deadly A-bomb on Hiroshima and then on Nagasaki ( both places are not battle field or army camps but typical metropolitan busy city center.
The explosion microwaved n barbecued 200 000 innocent lives to heaven. Thousand suffer from radiation for years n thousands more handicapped by permanent 3dr dgree burnt.
reported - 22000 Jpn children ( under 10 died )

Beavis Christ , if a dog bite us do we bite it back or do what is necessary. Japan strike pearl harbor a military barrack n seek war , USA should have had different solution or method like the D-day to solve this rather go nuke.

Walter C Vaughn III , germany is far mightier and mad then japan but D-Day solution worked to defeat Hitler and as much civilians as Hrshm or nagsk was not wasted. so why nuke japan instead
remember this that the japan striked U pearl harbor due to the American effort to place oil sanction on Japan.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were both picked because they were both industrial cities contributing heavily to the Japanese war effort. They were picked as military targets.
At the time, Japan was beginning a massive civilian training program to prepare for the impending US land invasion. Virtually every male over 10 years old was learning to fight--they were literally turning the entire population into an army.
The destruction of the two cities convinced Japan to surrender rather than face invasion. The population of the country at the time was close to 90 million if I remember correctly, and they were being prepared to all fight to the death. As barbaric as numbers can sound, MILLIONS of Japanese (and US) lives were saved by those bombs.
At the time of Geneva, the US had dropped out of the League of Nations because it didn't want to be bound by the rest of the world's rules. Japan had also withdrawn from Geneva before the war started. Both adopted the rules of Geneva again after the a-bomb, during the forming of the UN.

I am not American. The States is not the only country in the world , which produces huge amounts of arms, guns , has got powerful millitary troops and commits war crimes where millions and millions of innocent civilians have died and are still dying. There is the world evil, which is tightly connected. You may sometimes not know where the roots of it lie. Is the world disarmament possible? And for the people who may be interested to know - I am Catholic. Though you should also know Christianity was brought to my country as well to the other European countries by force with the help of German Teutonic Order , crusaders, whose deeds were blessed by Pope Innocent III Himself in the papers signed by Him 19 February,1199. Before Christianity my ancestors were Pagans. Innocent people died for their belief then, too. Where does the evil lie? I worship God, not Pope.

Gosh - this is a historical catastrophe. If someone feel sad for these innocent lives 10 , 20 or even thirty years after the bombing - its mercy and pity full - because those who died could be living and enjoying their life .
But after more then 60 years - even if they were not killed by a A-bomb they still might be dead by now due to aging !!
The only thing is what can be done for such thing not to repeat itself !! GLOBAL DISARMAMENT

Americans might have saved hundreds of millions of lives by inventing the A bomb and showing its devastating destruction power to world crazy and hostile nations and therefore nowadays wars are solved at diplomatic level at tables and not at battle field. ( nuke deterrence )

YES!!
My husband and I have agreed to not discuss Hiroshima and Nagasaki any more because the conversation turns ugly very quickly. I am so horrified by what the U.S. did to so many innocent people. My husband says the bombings were necessary to end the war quickly, but I don't think there is ever a good reason to destroy innocent people. It makes me SO sad! :'(

Neither was Nanking. 1937, the Japanese threw out the Geneva Convention before WWII.
Geneva Convention didn't protect civilians till 1949. Please learn your history.
Japan and Germany were both working to develop the A bomb during WWII. Your ignorance of history is appalling.
