I've been a regular visitor of discussion boards since I entered university..u ppl have a get to hear a very distorted view of my religion as portrayed by ur biased media..I learned a few things this year. I learned that ignorance and hate are the root of all evil and the only way that they can be eradicated is through education. I learned that bigotry and racism can displace certain ethnic groups, but they must go on living in the manner that they have been. But most of all, I learned that I must be able to confront ignorant and racist comments and situations, to defend my faith and to defend my way of life...
sincerely..

i don't bother. if someone doesn't like my faith (or lack thereof, in my case) than it's not my place to convince them to believe the way i do, or even to believe that i'm valid in my opinions. it creates more tension and animosity in the world, and i don't think that's a positive thing. your faith is your own, just as your race, gender, sexual orientation, or political beliefs belong to only you. it doesn't matter how others see them, it only matters how strongly you are tied to them.

education is a great thing, but you can't educate those who want no part in it. you can't change minds, you can't fix opinions. don't worry so much about how people percieve your belief system... think more about how it's important to you and how it fits into your life.

It can be as difficult as laying down your life and shedding your blood.

On this board, the safety of anonymity keeps anyone from taking any real risks. You can say just about anything, and how hurtful can it be? No blood is drawn, maybe some tears, but that is about it. Unless something someone says here causes a weak-minded person to commit self-annihilation.

It's not difficult to defend, it's difficult to get others that believe differently to see your side of it.

I agree that education would probably solve many of the problems the followers of religions cause. But, often because of the possibility of being wrong, people will choose willful ignorance over the understanding education could bring.

Defending your faith, your belief and why you choose to follow it is a very difficult task.

We are believers are under attack, I am not worried for myself, as I know why I believe, and my faith is strong. I don't feel I must counter attack anyone. They can think and feel what they will about my faith, or my reason for Church, but it will not get me down.

Most people are critical of what they do not know or understand, and it comes across as an attack. I do not believe that you are to fight, argue, or put others down for their faith, I feel the correct thing to do is to be open minded, listen to others, stay strong in your faith, and keep you comments against my faith to yourself.

I won't attack anyone, I choose what I believe and follow because it is what is best for me, it is a personal decision.

You are absolutely correct...
providing your religion doesn't require the participation of people that want nothing to do with it.

Tolerance is about accepting you for who you are and what you believe. Tolerance is not about giving you an opportunity to attempt to change me or what I believe.

With that clear distinction in your mind may God bless your endeavored, and many millions regard you with love and support.

hi id be very interested to know what your faith is friend i have had the same kind of thing as a mormon or latter-day saint often the media shows the bad side which of course there is wth anything as people can be one thing or another but they should not judge the actual faith unless it promotes bad qualitys like violence, ect.

I am reminded of the fact that if one walks with God one will have persecution. So if one is not persecuted then they are not doing it right. Keep the faith and meditate in Gods word and you will prosper

Isn't it interesting that no matter how much people are educated they still make the same mistakes?

You will not eradicate hate with education.

Quote me on it.
