if you are willing to take a stance on issues like abortion as being simply liberal and claim it's one's own choice when it involves a life of an unborn baby (i don't see how child molestation is any worse - anyone willing to take a stance on this as being liberal?) why not do the same for religious beliefs? why not consider the possibility of existence of God as being right?

i do understand that you guys don't believe it God but why are you so against grown up practicing their own beliefs? doesn't freedom of religion count as liberalism?

No. Unlike religious people atheists are the ones willing to consider the possibility that they may be wrong. There in is the key difference between us and the sheep that blindly follow. And a fetus IS NOT an unborn baby...get over it.

A foetus isn't an 'unborn baby' any more than you're an 'undecomposed corpse'. It's merely genetic material with the potential to become a baby in certain circumstances. So is a sperm.
As for a liberal approach to religious beliefs, I really don't see how my atheism is opposed to individual liberty. Informing someone of my opinion of the validity of a certain religion is not a contradiction of religious freedom. That'd be like saying that if you tell someone about the flaws of a certain kind of car then you don't support the free market.

No, I would not consider myself a liberal. I don't believe there is a giant invisible man in the sky watching over me. I believe we don't know how everything started.
As for abortion, I have very mixed feelings. I personally don't believe in it, but I don't feel the Government has the right to tell a woman she has to carry an infant to birth. So I would lean toward the right to choose.
But I find myself very conservative on things like English as the national language. I believe we need to change our immigration laws and have real borders.
The idea of a god existing just defies logic. Yes I have a real problem believing in it. If you dont think evolution is possible, ask yourself, when was the last time your body used its apendix? Or, how did the average hieght of men increase so drastically in 30 years? Or, how have some bacteria "evolved" into being antibiotic resistant?

1 I am a Liberal with a life long commitment.
2 Many of my fellow Liberals are strong Christians. I am great friends with them.
3. I have considered many religious beliefs, including Christianity. After long and hard studying with both 'heart and mind' I have found them even less convincing.
4 Have you ever actually considered that you might me wrong. Have you studied ALL religions and atheism with both 'heart and mind'

No. I wouldn't know if anyone is willing to do so. I don't understand what you mean when you say, "why not do the same religious beliefs" and I have considered it and discarded it as illogical.

You can't group atheist in one group. Atheist have one and only one thing in common--the disbelief of god. I for one don't believe in abortion. The only way I'd believe in god is if he himself would appear in front of me and prove himself to me. Sorry no other way.

i agree with the first answer but i have to say, i don't by the "circumstance" argument i keep hearing...you should be able to do whatever you want with your body and you don't have to give a reason to anybody as to why you've made that decision.
And that question is quite poorly worded.

jeeesus, what word scramble - try focusing on one coherent question and start over.
You see most atheists think logically, not just a bunch of disconnected babbling.
