Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins so that we could be free and clean from sin. This way God would not punish us for our sins. But for what deed?? After he sacrificed himself we still continued to sin anyway. It's like washing a dish but then dirt it with new food again. What was the point? If Jesus needed to sacrifice himself for us to clean our sins so that God would not terminate us then why does he not sacrifice himself for the second, third, fourth,...so on? I mean, if it was required for him to sacrifice himself for us then it meant for nothing since we still are sinful. Was his sacrifice not meaningless then?

Axel The atonement is forever. Those who accept the atonement are by faith made new. Not all have accepted the atonement of Jesus and we are still in a sinful world.
The reason we are still in this sinful world is a time of grace that many will accept the atonement and be saved. The sacrifice is extremely meaningful as it brings God's creation to his righteousness and his kingdom.Without his sacrifice we all perish in our sin.

Jesus died once for sin. He doesn't have to offer Himself anymore for our sins.

He is the mediator between us and God. When we ask for forgiveness, God sees Jesus.

Jesus is without spot or blemish.

In one of the epistles of John it states that if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Look, we are still human, however, Jesus' blood replaced the offerings of the blood of goats and bulls.

The important thing is to not sin willfully. Living the Christian life is not without cost. And the cost is your life.

Look at it this way--God doesn't ask you to give up something you're not going to lose anyways.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Just go with what His Word teaches. Why worry about this? Just know that He doesn't need to keep offering Himself up (like He did when He came here to earth) to redeem us from our sins.

He did what He did simply because He loves us.

This sounds like an honest question, so I'm giving my most honest answer as well.

Suppose this:
We lived before we were born with God as spirit sons and daughters, our plan was to live an earthly life, then die, and return to the home we came from. Our home was Heaven.
Suppose that:
In the plan of us coming to earth, we changed the way we once were, not innocent, had filthy thoughts, anger, resentment, doubt, and these things prevented us from going home. If we died, our spirit could not return home.
Suppose that:
God provided a way for us to go home after we died.
He sent Jesus Christ as the ONE to take all of our sins away and all we had to do was confess our sins and do them no more.
Suppose that:
We confessed our sins every day of our lives and believed and thanked Jesus Christ and God for their mercy. Whenever our time to die would come, our spirit would return to heaven in the way it had first come down, clean, pure and innocent, but with more knowledge than before. Jesus Christ made it possible for us to restore our Spirit's purity, which -if had not happened- would have cost us our entrance back home to Heaven. We would not have been able to return to live with God ever again.

Suppose that one sacrifice was enough to show the harshness of the suffering of one man who took the punishment for all our sins, of past people, of present people, and of people who are yet to come. One man suffered for many, so that we ALL didn't have to.
All we have to do is remember him, ask his forgiveness for committing that sin that hurt him, the sin for which he died for, that sin which convinced him that he should sacrifice himself for all of us.

Jesus died to show us the way to the Eternal Kingdom. It's up to us to follow His teachings and examples so that we can join Him there. Yes we sin and sin again, but He saves us through His forgiveness (forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us) when asked to with a meek and humble and reticent heart. He wants us to ask for forgiveness for the sins we commit, and in the Catholic church this asking and granting is done and achieved through the sacrament of reconciliation, which is how sins are forgiven. His death and resurrection also provided the means for the forgiveness of original sin through baptism. See the following link.

Jesus was real and he did die for our sins. God loved us so unconditionally that he gave us the life of his son for our sin.

The reason is Love. Love that we as humans cannot understand. It is unconditional, always there, always forgiving, & has no limits. Even if you do not beleve in him he still loves you and he is always with you.

If his sacrifice only save one person then he considers that a Win Win.

Once a person accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior, then they become God's adopted child. Jesus' sacrificial death and His blood covers them always (unless they no longer want it). We will sin again but, Jesus' sacrifice is still there for us. We are in a forgiven and saved condition. When we become closer to Him and love Him more we become less sinful because He has given us His Holy Spirit to help us.

Excellent point.

It gets even more interesting when one considers that god is supposed to have made us... that means he made us with the capacity to sin. We are inherently flawed, something that no theist will deny. How are we supposed to be perfect, though, if we are so inherently flawed? And why are we supposed to be punished (ie hell) or have other people punished for us (jesus) to pay for what we not only could not avoid but were created to do?

That is part of the reason I am an atheist. Religion is purely illogical.

Only one sacrifice is required. Man is an imperfect being. We cannot help but sin. Jesus came and died so that we can enter into heaven a perfect being, regardless of our sins.

Jesus died once so that when we choose him our sins will be replaced by Jesus's righteousness. It is our duty to identify sin immediately and confess it and yet again be cleansed. He does not need to die again because his death is what makes available the grace, so grace is always available and that's all we need.

Well, the Bible says over and over again that the punishment for SIN is DEATH. He can't lie. We all sin. So we all die. The good news is that Jesus died FOR our sins, so they will not be held to our account in the afterlife.
