I must agree with Link that you obviously don't have a strong knowledge of the bibble, but you are definitely spot on about the Bible.
You're right, that isn't much of a sacrifice. Sacrifice means to give something up; how can it truly be a sacrifice if you get it right back three days later. It is sad he went through pain and all, but it still doesn't count as a sacrifice; more like consensual torture.
Even if it had been a death with no chance of resurrection, I still don't understand why there had to be a human sacrifice before the Christians' "loving" God could forgive us of our sins. What's up with a God who has to see blood spilled before He chooses to pardon? Very scary!

Yes, Jesus knew He was going to Heaven, but you need to remember, that's where He came from as well.....the sacrifice was what He went through to make sure that you had the opportunity to join Him in Heaven as well.....even if you were the sole soul on this planet, He still would've have taken the same brutal punishment that only you alone deserved.....and in the first moments of His agony, He didn't wanna go through it but wanted to please the Father instead.....hey, there's your answer--He thought of someone else more (His Father and YOU) than He thought of Himself--that's what the sacrifice was.....straight up sentiments, and blessings to you.....

God gave His only begotten Son to be tortured, humiliated, mocked, spit on, thorns driven in his head, and then to die the most excruciating death, crucifixion. He then had to descend into hell, to be separated from God, and took ALL of our sins upon Himself. And you really are asking WHAT was the sacrifice? Watch "The Passion" by Mel Gibson. That may show you just some of what He went thru. The Bible says Jesus was so disfigured that He couldn't even be recognized...in Isaiah. God bless

What was the sacrifice? The most painful death possible. Living a life knowing what was coming. Leaving a perfect place and God to live on earth. Humbling himself.

you obviously dont understand the Plan of Salvation, meaning of life or anything, do you?
Whos sacrifice was it? Christs, or Gods?
Could you let evil people take your child, beat and tourture them, spit on them and then watch them murder your Child?
It was tough on our Heavenly Father.
Christ sacrificed himself for us.
He could have stopped them. The Atonement of Christ is deep, and the important half was in the garden of gethsename (sp?) where he took all our sins upon him.
The fact why Christ had to die, is he needed to ressurect. And to ressurect, you need to die. So he opened up the way for us to both be cleansed of sin and also so that we also may ressurect after death. A gift for all.

Ware a crown of thorns, get pieced in the side, nailed to
a cross and hang there with the weight of your body pulling
down on the nails, And then you tell me.

Jesus didn't die for himself. He died for us, so that we could enter heaven. Man in his imperfect form is not fit to enter into heaven, but through Jesus.

There was no sacrifice.
To sacrifice is to make sacrosanct.... how do you make a living god more holy than it already is?
